[Question #7873] What are my STI risks in this scenario?

Hello - thanks in advance for answering my question (FYI I will be getting tested soon regardless).
Best,
First off, I am a male. Recently, I visited a massage parlor and the session wound-up becoming sexual.
Generally speaking I just want to know: Which STIs I could be at risk for in this situation and what are the chances of actually getting them from this one-time event.?
My masseuse was a woman and we did not have intercourse and did not have any type of oral sex, but she did rub her bare vagina and genital area on/against my penis (she used a lot of lube/massage oil/lotion during this process).
I didn't notice any visible irregularities on her but understand that may not mean much.
Can you lend some info here?
Best,

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and your confidence in our services.
This was a zero risk event, or very nearly so, for all STIs. Genital apposition without penetration in theory carries risk for the three STIs transmitted by skin contact, i.e. human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, herpes, and syphilis. For all three, the actual risk is exceedingly low. There are no tests for asymptomatic HPV, and in any case everyone gets or has genital HPV, and this would not have raised your risk above what it already has been from other sexual exposures in your past. Similarly, no tests for herpes simplex virus (HSV) are recommended or useful in this situation. Leaving only syphilis as a consideration for testing. It would be very rare in this situation, and if you got it, you could expect an obvious genital sore (a chancre) at the site of exposure. But if you would like the reassurance of a negative blood test, you could do that any time 6 weeks or more after the event.
If somehow I were in your situation, I wouldn't be at all worried. I would not get tested for anything, and I would continue unprotected sex with my wife with no fear of transmitting anything to her.
I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if anything isnt clear.

Thanks Doctor.
One follow up here - even in the absence of penetration, what about any type of vaginal fluids/secretions from her making contact with the head/tip of my penis? Is that still no risk? For arguments sake, what if the head of my penis slipped inside of her for 5 seconds?
It’s only been a few days but I feel like I’ve been urinating a lot more and have very slight irritation at the tip of my penis. Perhaps I am being psycho-sematic..

Trivial, brief contact with vaginal fluids you mention carries little or no risk of transmission of any STI. Inside for 5 seconds? Still pretty low. STIs generally do not cause urinary frequency -- and whenever someone suspects his or her own symptoms have a psychological origin ("psychosomatic"), usually s/he is right. I really wouldn't worry about it.---

Thanks for taking the time to read/answer my concerns!
I ‘m still going to get tested for peace of mind but your words have certainly been helpful.

What are you going to be tested for? The tests aren't perfect: there's a higher chance of a misleading result than the possibility you caught anything.---

I’m going to wait a few weeks (assuming no symptoms) then get a complete panel.

Dumb move, assuming this is your only potential exposure. But it's your money, and your risk for positive results that are false or reflect distant past exposures.
That completes this thread. I hope the discussion has been helpful.
