[Question #7874] Handjob and HIV risk

Dear Dr,
I went to a massage parlor and ended up having a handjob without any other sexual encounter.
I got tested with 4th gen HIV test at 9.5 weeks and it was negative.
Should I consider it conclusive or get tested again?
Is handjob a risk factor for HIV? How accurate is the 4th generation HIV test at 9.2 weeks?

Welcome back to the forum. However, this is essentially a repeat of your previous two questions 2-3 years ago, which also involved handjobs or other sorts of contact without intercourse or oral sex. Quoting from my reply both those other times, "Penis contact with skin -- anywhere on the body, including breasts, inner thighs, or abdomen, is risk free, as is hand-genital contact. You don't need testing for HIV or any STD, and if you have a regular partner, you can continue your normal sexual practices without worry of transmittng any infection."

Therefore, you did not need testing for HIV or anything else. In any case, the AgAb ("4th generation") HIV blood tests are conclusive any time 6 weeks or more after the last possible exposure. So if you had been exposed, your negative result at 9 weeks shows for sure you were not infected.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thank you so much for your doctor,
so essentially handjobs are not a risk factor for HIV right?
and since I have gotten tested at 9.2 weeks 4th gen HIV test and was negative. So, I can consider that conclusive right?
sorry just want to make sure I am following you here.
Thank you once again.

"so essentially handjobs are not a risk factor for HIV right?"  Correct -- as clearly stated in your two previous threads as well. What makes it so hard to accept and believe?

"since I have gotten tested at 9.2 weeks 4th gen HIV test and was negative. So, I can consider that conclusive right?" Of course. Did you even read my reply above? Did you think I might have changed my mind?
