[Question #7958] Clarification reconfirmation only

hello doctor Hunter I want you reconfirm only one point
1) Dr Hunter writes : “ Understand this which should cover all your future concerns if you don’t have unprotected sex and dont share drug injection equipment you will never catch hiv hepatitis c , b , STDs or any other blood borne infection no other precautions are needed “
2) can you just clarify RECONFIRM point 1 for me what does drug injection equipment mean ? .
I am 100 % confident drug injection equipment mean to say if you don’t share hollow needles with syringes to inject yourself with people who are infected you will never catch hiv , hepatitis b c or any other blood borne infection therefore diregard all other possiblitIes ?
Because in some posts you have said this so answer cannot change for me
3. Conclusion : i am 100% sure drug injection equipment means needle and syringes ONLY and nothing else correct ?
4) we don’t get hiv or hepatitis b, c or STDs from objects in environment such as gauze or band aids applied on wounds or cut from a rock/pebble if we fear these objects are contaminated with hiv hepatitis b c blood or bodily fluid because we aren’t sharing needles for injection.
5) injections:
No one gets hiv hepatitis b, c or other STDs from any type of injections ( iv drips , vaccines , Medicines ) at health care setting or when performed by health care worker anywhere so injections are no risk for any viruses with billions of injections being performed everyday? Right ?

Welcome to our Forum. On this occasion I will be answering your questions. FYI Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum and today I happened to pick up you questions. We have worked together for over 40 years and never disagreed on the substance of our responses to clients.
Your question appears to be a follow-up question. Have you been on the forum previously using a different user name or account?
Replies:
1. I can confirm that this statement is correct.
2. By drug injection equipment he was referring to hollow point needles and syringes used for injection of drugs into a vein or beneath the skin.
3. Correct
4. Correct. HIV and hepatitis in to acquired from objects in the environment- counter tops, toilet seats, broken glass, pebbles or contaminated gauze or cloth.
5. Correct.
Hope this helps. EWH

HI no I used the search forum and desperately require your clarification you made English error on previews post point for 4 so I ask again. Please ANSWER the following
1) drug injection equipment mean : you wrote hollow point needle I wrote hollow needle that’s the same thing ?
2) in conclusion: to avoid hiv hepatitis b c or STDs just dont share drug injection equipment that is ONLY hollow needle with syringes with infected people and I will never get these viruses . Disregard all possibilities
That Means point 4 a , b and c are no risk
.
3) gauze/ Cotton balls , band aids any other objects are NOT drug injection equipment so no risk for any viruses and also if they have hiv hepatitis b/c , STDs blood or bodily fluid they are no risk because hiv hepatitis b , c STDs are non infectious immediately on air exposure if contaminated gauze is applied on wound so no risk
4a)INJECTIONS: may I follow doctor Hunter that is no one gets hiv hepatitis b , C or STDs from injections performed in health care setting or when performed by health care professional anywhere e.g ( home setting or office ) regardless of any risk ?
4b) I was given injection with multi dose vial which was used on previous patient so if they’re is any blood or bodily fluid if nurse re inserted the needle(from previous patient ) into the vial I’m not at risk
MY doctor and you dr hook said that multi dose vials once have been punctured/pierce by the needle any blood or bodily fluid inside the vial would be exposed to air therefore hiv hepatitis b c would be non infectious so I cannot get infected . So no risk for any virus from injection from the contaminated multi dose vial ? no need for testing
4c) multi dose vials or any vials have not caused hiv or hepatitis b , C Or blood borne infection when used for injections even if I fear the vial is contaminated with these viruses because as doctor Hunter says no one gets BLOOD borne infections from injections.?

Your questions are anxiety-related and repetitive, something that we strongly discourage. You should address your self-acknowledged anxiety with counseling or mental health providers, not on this forum as that is not our area of specialization- I trust you will understand.. I apologize for the minor typo but you have obviously correctly interpreted my response.
Brief responses to your repetitive questions:
1. It is the same thing
2. Correct
3. Correct
4a. Correct
4b. Trained health care professionals would not re-use needles or syringes. As long as clean needles and syringes are used, multi-dose vials are not risky
4c. See 4b above

I apologise that was not my intention but was trying to get the most of out of you response doctor
1) clarification: regardless of contamination with hiv or hepatitis b ,c or STDs of the multi dose vial if nurse inserted the needle into the vial blood or bodily fluid went into the vial . And later the multi dose vial was used on me from previous patient .
I was told by my doctor that hiv hepatitis b c STDs would all be dead / non infectious INSIDE the mutli dose vial due to air exposure and the environment as the vial is not air tight because it’s been used thus once these viruses are non infectious I cannot infected from the multi dose vial used for injection Same thing you say dr hook.
2) IF I DONT understand regardless of any risks may I just hold on to the fact that doctor Hunter say strictly that there is no doubt that no one gets any blood borne infections from any type of injection in health care setting or anywhere so I’m safe from the multi dose vial ?
3)you have said hiv hepatitis b ,c ,stds gets immediately non Infectious on air exposure in wet blood or bodily fluids . wanted to ask Bodily fluids include ( sweat, tear , saliva , FECES anything that comes outside the body ETC For e.g feces once leaves the body will be immediately non infectious for hiv or hepatitis b c or STDs thus cannot infect.
4) I don’t need testing for hiv or hepatitis b c or STDs from the injection at hospital?
Please DO answer point 1 , 2 and 4 I WILL MOVE forward .

Final responses. Returning to this forum with further repetitive and anxiety-driven questions may be deleted without return of your posting fee,
1. This sort of "what if" question is non-productive, Health care professionals are highly trained and take great precautions to avoid contaminating the material within multi-dose vials. In some instances, depending on what is in the vial, IF such contamination were to occur, survival of contaminating microorganisms would be possible although unlikely. Worrying about this scenario is a waste of time.
2. Correct
3. Correct
4. Correct
