Hello dr, I tested 4 weeks and 6 weeks after an exposure with a test from Kaiser “HIV1+2 AB +HIV1P24 AG, CLA “ non reactive. Is this a 4th gen test ? I also got tested at another clinic no sure what type of test was used but it was blood drawn and it was negative at 9 weeks ? Do I need anymore test ?

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment.
The tests you got at Kaiser (HIV1+2 AB +HIV1P24 AG, CLA" are 4th generation assays which are more than 99% conclusive at 4 weeks. Your 9 week test was most likely a 4th generation test as well and provides proof that you were not infected. My advice is to accept your test results and move forward without concern. I see no need for further testing. EWH

Thank you for your reply dr. So even if it was a 3rd generation test it would have still been conclusive ?

Jus one more question dr, I also had a syphilis test at 6 weeks and now I have a canker like sore on the inside of my lip , would this be related to syphilis ,should I test again ? , do test results always overrule any symptoms? Thank you

No, your syphilis test at six weeks was definitive. This is a bit late- typically syphilitic chancres appear, on average three weeks following direct contact with a syphilitic lesions. In addition, while you did not mention your site of exposure, unless you performed oral sex on your partner, you would not even be at risk for oral syphilis.
This completes this thread. Take care. EWH
