[Question #8045] Risk assesment

Hi,
Last Monday (7 days ago) I received unprotected Oral sex from a high class (expensive, not advertised online) female escort. I also performed unprotected cunnilingus on her. We did not have penetration and at most our genitals brushed each other.
On friday I woke up with a reasonably mild but noticeable sore throat, and noticed some white pus on tonsils similar to strep throat / tonsillitis. Hoping to catch it early, i visited a Dr who suspected it was strep or similar and prescribed me a course of Phenoxymethyl-penicillin. Around 24 hours after starting the course the sore throat symptoms felt much better. And 3 days later the pus and tonsils are slowly going down and there is no noticeable pain when swallowing etc.
Is there any risk of an STI here?
I have 0 noticeable genital symptoms. I am unsure if the penicillin would affect any test that i would usually take to check for Clamid / gonnorr to be safe.
Does the sore/strep throat responding so quickly to the antibiotics suggest it was a regular infection rather than something sexual?
Many thanks
John

Welcome to the forum.
You had a low risk exposure in regard to all STDs, all of which are uncommonly transmitted by oral sex, including both receiving fellatio and as the oral partner in cunnilingus. Probably you have a cold --statistically more likely a virus than strep throat, and strep throat would not clear up so fast, even with penicillin. At this point, you'll never know. The penicillin also might interfere with testing for gonorrhea -- but I would have recommended against testing anyway, so it really doesn't matter. And almost no STDs cause sore throat.
Bottom line: Little or no risk, no significant history of any STD, and no testing is necessary in this situation.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thank you for the response.
I have a wife. Usually in a circumstance like this i would be cautious and have a check for Clamid/Gonnorr (not of the throat.)
In the absence of symptoms, and given the exposure (it was a number of hours of this kind of play) am I safe to assume that i do not require testing and can continue to have sex with wife with no need for an STD test?
I still have 5 days of the penicillin to complete so imagine any test before that is finished is unreliable.
Many thanks

Have just taken a urine test for Gonnorr/Clamid. Looking for clarification if penecillin will affect this?
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry for the delayed reply to yesterday's follow-up message.
As i said, this was a nearly zero risk exposure for both gonorrhea and chlamydia, so you can expect a negative test result. The penicillin won't make any difference in test reliability.
