Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions.  I’ll be glad to comment.  Once successfully cured chlamydia stays cured and does not recur.  Azithromycin has recently been found to be somewhat less effective for treatment than doxycycline but still is effective for most infections.  In just the past year the CDC has revised its treatment recommendations to make doxycycline the preferred drug for treatment. It may be worthwhile to point out that persons who have had chlamydia once are at somewhat increased risk for re-infection, often from untreated, asymptomatic partners.  Because infections are often asymptomatic, for persons with multiple partners, with new partners, or whose partners may have other partners, repeat screening is recommended.---
