[Question #8170] HIV testing
|
Hello doctors.
Would the following HIV testing performed after an exposure be conclusive? If not, how reassuring?
- INSTI IGm/IGg rapid test after 21 days: negative
- DUO Ag/Ab lab test after 25 days: negative
- RNA test (< 30 copies) after 25 days: negative
- INSTI IGm/IGg rapid test after 32 days: negative
Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your question. while most would prefer data from 28 days (four weeks) the combination of a negative combination HIV antigen/antibody (duo) test and and HIV RNA test at 25 days provides conclusive information that you have not acquired HIV unless you had taken medications designed to teat/prevent HIV following your exposure. I definitely haven't taken any medication. This is related to the episode I described in the question #8088.

Thanks for referring me to our previous interaction. Given the fact that the contact you described in your previous post was a no risk event, as well as the test results you report, you can be completely sure that you did not acquire HIV from the encounter you described. There is no reason whatsoever for continued testing or concern. You should feel confident and move on without continuing concerns. EWH ---
