[Question #8183] Anxious and Confused About Symptoms

Hi doctors,
I'm concerned about having contracted an STI at a strip club, but am not sure if this is actually the case. I hoping you could help provide some context that explains the symptoms I've been experiencing. Two weeks ago, I went to a strip club for a friend's bachelor party. I received a 30-minute lap dance. The dancer was fully naked, and I was fully clothed. The dancer allowed me to touch her body, and at certain points in the dance, I ran my finger up and down her vagina (probably for 30 seconds max). In another instance, I stimulated her clitoris with my finger, again for probably 30 seconds maximum. I did not penetrate her vagina with my fingers. Outside of that, the experience mostly consisted of dry humping. When I came home about 45 minutes later, I masturbated. I did wash my hands throughly before masturbating, but I do know that I used the same hand that touched the dancer's vagina to masturbate. Within a few days of this happening, I've experienced discomfort in my urethra (a mild burning that comes and goes), along with a distinct ache in only my left testicle. I also had painful balanitis symptoms (I am uncircumcised), which I've been treating with Lotrimin. Since using the Lotrimin lotion, the balanitis rash has gone away, but I still experience the occasional mild urethra burning and the testicular ache. It's especially bad when I wear tight-fitting underwear, and less-so when I wear boxers. It's worth noting that the balanitis rash appeared after I had unprotected sex with my partner. We used a flavored lubricant, and I later took a bath using one of those "scented bath bombs" -- it's possible that the chemicals in either the lubricant or the bath bomb brought out the rash.
I've read through many of the questions and answers on this forum, and they would lead me to believe that my symptoms are not STI related, but, I'm perplexed as to what could be causing my symptoms?
Can I please have your opinion on whether you think this is an STI, or somet

Welcome to our forum thanks for your question. Thanks as well for reviewing other posts on our site. We purposefully leave them available to clients so that person can review our responses to others with similar problems. I appreciate that you have done this and suspect that you will find my response is similar to some that you have already read.
The exposure that you describe what did not put you at any risk whatsoever for acquisition of STI’s including HIV. STI’s are not spread through clothing, even if the clothing becomes wet with genital secretions, is not spread through transfer of general secretions from one person to another on someone’s hands, and is not spread as a result of masturbation with hands contaminated with genital secretions.
The symptoms you describe are not due to the events you describe. Urethral symptoms due to STIs do not come and go and testicular discomfort of the sort is not related to STIs. Sometimes when persons are worried are an exposure they have come to regret, they pay close attention to genital sensations which would otherwise go unnoticed. This may explain the symptoms you describe.
I hope these comments are helpful. I see no reason for concern or for testing for STIs. EWH
