[Question #8241] HPV concerns for 2 encounters

Hello
Male here. So I am mainly concerned about 2 encounters.
Encounter 1 with a female
Received oral from a CSW(female). It was protected but not certain if the condom was on properly. I have read on the site that there is no virtually risk for HPV from oral? I just want to clarify that this is correct? 5 years ago before this encounter I also got the gardasil 4. I believe it was 4 as I got it in 2014/5. Is there any risk for HPV from this event? I was under the assumption that this encounter was a no risk encounter especially because I got the vaccine as well.
Encounter 2 with a male
Penis to penis rubbing +mutual masturbation. There was a lot of genital to genital rubbing(involved the entire penis: glans, base, shaft was all rubbed together) and also mutual masturbation occurred. This occurred before I got the HPV vaccine. From what I have gathered from extensively browsing this site, genital to genital rubbing as well as mutual masturbation poses no risk for HPV. However, when this partner ejaculated, they ejaculated very close to my urethral tip so his semen may have gotten into my urethra. I have not seen any people with exactly the same encounter as me so does this close proximity urethral ejaculation increase the risk of HPV or is that only for bacterial STDs like gonorrhea etc. So is the chance of HPV still 0 from this encounter.
These encounters are causing me a lot of anxiety !
Thank you

Welcome to the forum.
There is little or no risk from these events. As you already understand, the chance of a new HPV infection from oral sex is minimal, even without a condom. As for the second event, there are no data on non-penetrative exposures, especially genital-genital between men. However, the risk must be exceedingly low; you really needn't not be worried. In addition, everybody gets HPV anyway -- most humans get multiple infections during our sexually active lives. Happily, the large majority never cause either symptoms or harm. And your risk is lower still, having had the vaccine. The quadrivalent vaccine (covering four HPV types) protects against 90% of genital wart-causing HPV infections and around 70% of cancer causing ones.
So assuming you've had at least a handful of sexual partnerships over the years, you can assume you have been infected with HPV and could still have a latent infection with one or more types. Any additional chance you are infected from the two encounters described is trivial and not worth worrying about. Whatever HPVs you have or have had, they probably will never cause you any problem.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thank you Dr Hansfield!
These have been my only 2 encounters.
1.If you could quantify and just give an approximation of the likelihood of acquiring a HPV infection from these events, what would it be? Unsure of how low you mean when you say low. Is low <50% or even lower than that?
2. Was I be correct to say that the second encounter posed realistically no risk for acquiring HPV? Also does the bodily fluids such as the semen in the urethra increase the risk for HPV transmission or would it be the same as just the genital genital rubbing without the semen in urethra since HPV is transmitted through genital to genital contact and not through transmission of body fluids.
3. From what I gathered from this site, experts including you and Dr Hook say that genital to genital rubbing and mutual masturbation(whether it be male or female) poses no risk for acquiring HPV and you and Dr Hook have both never seen HPV spread in this kind of manner? Is this correct or did I gather information wrong.
Although I know that a lot of people do gets HPV, I would just much rather prefer to not have it so this is why this issue is worrying me greatly!
Thank you for your help

Oh I also forgot to add one q
4. Was I right to say that mutual masturbation poses no risk for acquiring HPV and all other STDs.

1. As I said, there are no data and I can do no more than make a very wild guess. Probably under 1 chance in hundreds or thousands for each of these events.
2. Body fluids are not generally believed to be high risk for HPV, but I cannot say there is no risk.
3. As far as I know, I've never seen a case of HPV so transmitted. On the other hand, it is almost impossible to ever know which exposure or from whom any particular HPV infection was acquired, so who knows?
4. Hand-genital contact is exceedingly low risk for any and all STIs, including HPV, but here too nobody can say the risk is truly zero. But it's certainly low enough to ignore.
Please re-read my previous reply -- about how unimportant it is whether or not you have HPV or could have acquired it from the events described. Do your best to stop obsessing about these events and HPV risk.

Thank you very much Dr Handsfield
As you may already guess, I am quite a paranoid person and only have recently began educating myself on STDs so even if there's a small chance of getting something, I get worried.
Also a few more questions
1. For genital warts, I remember reading that they don't cause any symptoms at all besides they are just visible. That is no itchiness, pain and they are just visible. I remember reading this a while ago so not sure if my memory is any good. Is what I read correct?
2. Are genital warts visible without stretching the skin so are they big? I remember I had some small bumps on my genital skin but you could only see them when you looked very closely and I had to stretch the skin to even get a good view of it and it was around 1mm. I remember going to a dermatologist who said he couldn't really see it so he said it wasn't a wart.
3. I had some red patches of skin on my penis which appeared scaly with no symptoms of itchiness but they were just there and it went away in around 3-4 weeks. Would this at all suggest warts?
Sorry if my question seem a bit anxiety driven and thank you very much for your service! It is so so so valuable.

1) All true.
2) Stretching or other special efforts are not required to see genital warts. And a dermatologist's diagnosis of no warts of course is reliable.
3) Warts don't cause these sorts of things. No way.
That completes the two follow-up exchanges included with each question and so ends this thread. I hope the discussion has been useful. Do your best to move on without worry.
