[Question #8262] Frottage risk

Hi,

I had an experience last night, I am a male and met up with another male. We kissed, there was no oral. But we did engage in frottage, where he rubbed his penis against my butt, he may have touched the outside of my anus a few times with the head of his penis, he also ejaculated near my anus. I did not let him penetrate inside however, but as his penis head did touch my anus, wouldn’t the pre-seminal fluid be a risk factor?

I am worried that pre seminal fluid from when he touching my anus with his penis or even the ejaculate that was near or on my anus could have been a risk for hiv.

Is this something I should get PEP for?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services.

We get many questions on frontage and our reply is consistent:  the risk of any STI is very low, and for sure there is no risk for HIV or other infections transmitted through genital fluids (like gonorrhea or chlamydia). That includes situation like you describe, i.e. ejaculation near the anus (or near the vagina in male-female contact). In theory, genital-genital or genital-anal contact without penetration can result in transmission of STIs passed primarily by skin-to-skin contact, like herpes, HPV and syphilis. However, this is rare:  without penetration, the chance of these is very low, if not quite zero.

For sure there is no need for PEP after such an event, and I don't even recommend HIV testing, or testing for any other STIs.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
