[Question #8291] Safe sex

Hi Drs.
A week and half ago I had a sexual encounter with a colombian stripper while I was in South America. There was no oral sex, only vaginal sex and I was using a condom from the beginning til the end. I checked the condom and everything seemed normal the only thing is that of course at the end my penis was not hard anymore but it was fully cover with the condom. Based on what I just described do you recommend I have to take any test for STI or HIV before resuming sex with my regular(female) partner without protection? Was I at risk or would I put my girlfriend at any risk? I just wanted to confirm with you and be in the safe side and of course ease my mind since I do tend to overthink things. Thanks a lot!

Welcome back to the forum.
Condom protected vaginal safe isn't totally safe, but it's close. The important thing is that the head of the penis and meatus (urethral opening) are covered, and it sounds like they were. So from a strictly risk assessment or medical perspective, I see no need for STI testing. On the other hand, nobody can give a 100% guarantee; and the fact that you came to the forum to ask this question suggests you'll keep worrying unless and until you are tested with negative results. So for those personal/psychological reasons, I think it's a good idea for you to have a urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia (valid now), and perhaps also consider blood tests for syphilis and HIV after a few weeks. But in the meantime, if I were you, I would continue unprotected sex with my wife.
I hope that helps. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

I completely understand Dr HHH. Yes the head was completely covered all the time. As I have read in this forum what I did is as close as there is to safe sex. I have no symptoms and as You suggest and my primary Dr just replied to me as well, there is no medical reason for testing and I will resume and continue my regular life. Thanks a lot and please feel free to close the thread.
