[Question #8297] Vaginal Herpes and Finering Contact

I am currently taking valacyclovir for genital herpes. While I was receiving a hand job, the individual put his finger in my mouth and then in his mouth and we kissed.  I did have a current out break on the outside of my vagina. Can I get oral herpes from this action?

That would be extremely unlikely.  Once you have herpes in one location, it would be highly unlikely that you would get the same type (HSV 1 or HSV 2) in a new location on your body.

Can you tell me the major differences between HSV 1 and HSV 2 ?

HSV 1 genitally recurs far less often than HSV 2 and is far less transmissible during intercourse.  So if you have to have genital herpes, that is the easier type to have.

Sorry,  I forgot to ask; is it possible for the individual who performed the hand job and stuck his finger in my mouth and then in his,  to get oral herpes?

I think that risk is very close to zero.  All of us on this forum believe that hands are not a method of sharing a sexually transmitted infection.  It takes a certain amount of virus to be transmitted to another adult, not just a tiny fragment of virus, and the issue of hands as a method of transmission suggests that much virus is lost to the hands in this situation.  I feel like the risk to your partner is incredibly small indeed.
