[Question #8336] Update and follow up
|
Hi Doctor,
I am sorry I came back but I have an update
So After a month from my last dermatologist told me the lesion I have is a cyst, yesterday on the follow up she told me that now after the scabs are gone from the freezing I got, she can tell it is a wart.
It is weird because I never had vaginal or anal sex. But I guess I got them from the unprotected oral I got from a CSW
Now she suggested using Aldara cream and seeing the results after the one freezing I got did not get rid of it all. It is now two months after that lesion appeared.
I am back to square 1 while I keep worrying about my sexual future
Do you think a wart could be acuired from oral sex?
And what do you think about using Aldara cream?
Also is there a chance I clear the inflection completely if I am 32 years old?
Thank you

Thank you for the update. You have been examined by a dermatologist to see you several times and I am not in a position to contradict her findings although I find them perplexing. Determining whether a lesion is due to HPV or not following freezing can be very very challenging. Further, acquisition of genital warts following receipt of oral sex is most unusual and as we have discussed in some of your previous posts the timeline for the appearance of the reasons you describe be quite unusual for a wart. This is all a bit strange.
In answer to your specific questions:
1. In science and medicine one can never say never but, as I have already told you it would be most unusual for you to have a quired genital warts from receipt of oral sex. Could you have acquired it through previous, non-general contact in which your penis rubbed against an infected partners body without penetration? Otherwise I have no easy explanation for you.
2. Aldara is affective therapy for genital warts and is amongst the therapies recommended by the CDC. It has the advantage of being able to be administered by you to yourself in the privacy of your own home.
3. Yes, the majority of visible genital warts will resolve, even without therapy, over a period of several years.
N
Finally, your concern about your “sexual future” is misplaced. Genital warts are simply not a meaningful problem for the vast majority of persons from a health perspective. If you have future partners who have been vaccinated against HPV they will be protected. If they are not vaccinated and have been sexually active with others they are most likely already infected. Finally, the nature of genital warts themself is that they are simply not a major health problem for the majority of infected persons, particularly if they follow sexual health screening guidelines. Please Take some time to look at other threads on HPV infection in our forum. You will see that your concerns are by no means unique and that both Dr. Handsfield and I have discussed them with other clients extensively in the past. I will not go into detail beyond this at this time. EWH

Thank you doctor. I started Aldara treatment 3 weeks ago and I guess there is slight improvement. I also started aniexty treatment with anti depressants that I aim to relieve my headache. I have mild headache and slight ear ringing for a while now (weeks) that my doctor think it is comes from the aniexty, but It keeps me worry about other viral Stds. Could it be herpes meningitis or encephalitis? I know that HIV is never documented through recipient of oral sex, that is why I did not test, but I keep worry about it. I have never had vaginal or anal sex.

I agree with your doctor. None of the symptoms you describe suggest any STI. I am confident that this does not reflect HIV. While no testing is medically or scientifically indicated, should you choose to test to prove to yourself that this is not due to HIV, I am completely confident that the test will prove that you do not have HIV. Thank you doctor. I really appreciate your help. I think I will do the test just for the peace of mind.
Today I noticed a new tiny white bump near the wart, I am not sure if it is another wart or a side effect of Aldara. I just worry about herpes too, I have not had any sexual encounters since that last one 4 months ago and it was only oral.
Also Before this encounter I had few cherry angiomas on my arms, I noticed recently more tiny angiomas on my chest and arm. Dermatologist told me it is hereditary but their timing with the wart keeps worrying me

Final responses. I understand your desire to prove to yourself that you do not have HIV. When you get your test results showing that you do not have HIV
---
, I urge you to believe them and move forward.
As for herpes, if you were going to develop herpes lesions, that would have occurred long ago, within 10 days of exposure.
Cherry angiomata are hereditary and age related, and not due to any STI.
It would be extraordinary for a wart to appear during treatment with Aldara.
You are really worrying unnecessarily and far too much. I suggest you stop your hyper vigilance and seek counseling for your inappropriate anxiety.
End of thread. EWH
