[Question #8363] Maybe a Lesion but No Symptoms

I had a sexual experience at a massage parlor that I am very upset at myself for. About a week ago I was weak and put myself in a terrible position.   I had sex twice with the massage girl although for everything I insisted upon using a condom. She did lick and kiss a lot of my body , but not my genitals or anus. She may have kissed and licked my inner thigh, but I was fairly drunk and cannot be sure. If she did it was probably for at most 10-20 seconds.

About a day and a half later (maybe a little long but hard to be sure, but no longer than two days), I got two red bumps on my inner thigh.  The bigger one is just below my scrotum and a very small one about 5 inches down.  I thought they were zits and I popped each, it was hard to tell but I think a very small amount of yellowish white puss came out of each. It was a very small amount so it was hard to tell.

Aside from some general discomfort, not pain but a small amount of itching on one side of my penis (which has no lesions or discolorizations) I cannot say I have had any symptoms at all. Both of the smaller spot on my inner thigh is going away but the bigger one sort of hanging out.  Neither hurts, itches or really has anything else going on aside from being there. I am really upset with myself but I am also worried that these bumps could be herpes or something else. Should I go get tested?  This is all I can think about.

The skin of the thigh is really not vulnerable to the acquisition of HSV as the intact skin is too thick for virus to penetrate.  Condoms reduce transmission of HSV 2 from females to males by about 60-65%, and the fact that it was a single encounter lessens the risk even more.  You could have a provider take a look at the bump if you are concerned, and if they think it looks like herpes, they could swab test it if necessary.  But it certainly doesn't sound like herpes to me.  Do you know if you had herpes at all prior to this encounter?
I know this can be scary, but to me,  your encounter sounds very low risk.
What do you mean by general discomfort?

Thank you so much for getting back to me.  To be clear, for all of the sexual contact (oral and vaginal sex) i was wearing a condom.  I was tested for HSV 1 & 2 about two years ago and I was negative.  To my knowledge I have never had a cold sore.  I guess discomfort may be the wrong word, there was been some slight itchiness  on the right side of my penis but there are no lesions and there was no skin on skin direct contact.  Honestly, I have been so nervous that it might be that I am hyper sensitive about anything itch or twitch down there.  The thing on my inner thigh does not itch or hurt at all.  I have tried not to touch it at all just to be safe.

If I could ask a follow up, after the vaginal intercourse I may have touched the condom with my palm and I had what was a paper cut which I saw later was perhaps still open.  It was very brief, maybe 10 seconds but it is another thing I have really been dwelling on.  Is there any risk associated with that for HSV or HIV?

In the time of covid I am sure you hear this a lot, but thank you for what you do.

I do not think there is any risk of any STI associated with touching the condom, no.  It's been over a week now if I'm reading the timing correctly, and if there had been any risk, you would have seen something by now.  I know this contact is worrisome for you, but I believe all is well.  Good job using the condom for both oral and genital contact!
