[Question #8517] Questions about previous CSW encounters

Hello,
During 2017-2019, I visited 4 sex workers, all 5 encounters were protected, Last encounter was on February 2 2019. Got myself tested for all STD's multiple times and everything was negative. I noticed a few pearly bumps in June of 2019 and was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosm . Went to a dermatologist and the bumps were taken care of by curettage. I haven't been sexually active after that encounter in 2019. My questions are:
1. I do not have any bumps anymore, Is it safe to assume I am clear of the molluscum virus as its been almost 3 years? Do I need to disclose it to my future partners and is there a risk of transmission ?
2. I did not have any genital warts or haven't seen any abnormal growth during the last 3 years, since the incubation for warts is 1 year, Is it same to assume I was never infected with HPV?
3. Also, Even if I was infected with HPV, I have read online that the Virus clears itself in 1-2 years. Since it's been almost 3 years, the virus may have been cleared by now . Am I correct?
4. I got tested for HSV 1 and 2 IGG multiple times after 12 weeks from the last encounter and all were negative. I never had an outbreak of herpes in the last 3 years. Is it same to assume that I do not have HSV 1 or 2 ?

Welcome to our forum and thanks for your confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to comment but I must say I am sorry that you continue to worry about exposures did occur so long ago. Your exposures were low risk. Most commercial sex workers do not have STI’s, including HIV, and even when they do most exposures do not lead to infection. In your own case the fact that you practice safe sex for these encounters adds an additional level of protection and lowers risk still further. With these preliminary comments, I’ll go on an address your specific questions:
1. Molluscum contagiosum infections tend to be self-limited. The fact that you were’s were treated and you’ve seen no evidence of recurrence is strong evidence that you no longer have infection and should not worry about the possibility of transmission to others. I still see no need for disclosure of your past infection to future partners.
2. Please understand that many HPV infections to not result in visible genital warts. There is a small possibility that you acquired HPV through your prior exposures. That said, this is not a reason for concern. Most person to have not had the HPV vaccination are already infected with HPV. My advice to you is that if you have not had the HPV vaccine, you should get it. Otherwise the small possibility that you have HPV infection as the result of your previous encounters is not a reason for concern.
3. Correct. As I said before, and as I have said to innumerable clients in the past, the possibility of HPV infection should not concern you. Given the long interval since your last sexual exposure this is particularly true for you.
4. Yes.

Thank you for your answer. A few follow up questions:
1. Regarding HPV, for genital warts the incubation period is 8 months to 1 year. So If I did not have any warts over the last 3 years, Can I assume that I haven't been infected by the warts causing HPV virus?
2. Can genital warts remain dormant for 3 years and show up later sometime, I am guessing this won't happen as the incubation period is only upto an year? Am I correct?

1. What year is more than enough time for HPV leading to visible genital warts to become apparent. You are correct. If you have not developed visible warts from the encounters you describe by this time, you will not.
2. Unlikely

Thank you.
Last question. Can HPV be transmitted after it's been cleared by the body?

In general following clearance of HPV is manifest either as visible genital warts or HPVDNA, most experts feel that the infection is unlikely to be transmitted.
As you point out, with this third reply, this completes this thread which will be closed shortly. EWH
