[Question #8533] Herpes from Fingering
|
Good Evening,
I was fingering a female (vaginally) with a finger that had a cut on it, unaware she has herpes. She informed me a few days later about having herpes, however she was not having an outbreak at the time of the fingering. I felt safe, but I am now paranoid as I have a slight fever about a week since that incident (which of course, especially these days, a fever can be from 100 different things, but it caused my level of concern to spike). Unfortunately, it was late that night, so I went to sleep shortly after without washing my hands. I also cannot recall if I had masturbated or touched my genitals for any other reason before going to bed that night. So my initial question is, if I fingered her while she wasn't having an outbreak and did touch my genitals, should I be concerned about having given myself genital herpes that way?

If you had gotten herpes on your finger (called herpetic whitlow) you would have very distinct lesions on your finger(s) that are significant water blisters on a red base. They are quite painful and you wouldn't miss them. To me, it sounds like you did not get this. How long ago did this happen?

Thank you for the response. The incident occurred ten days ago now. Could one have herpetic whitlow asymptomatically like one can with genital herpes?
I've read that herpetic whitlow also isn't contagious unless there are active blisters/open sores, is that correct?
Lastly, I ended up reading other questions from this forum, and the consensus appeared to be that with what did occur, I wouldn't be at risk of having gotten genital herpes, is that also correct? Thank you again, I'm sure many of the questions that are asked are repeats, so I definitely appreciate your patience and responses.

*wouldn't have gotten genital herpes even if I did touch my genitals after the fingering, which I unfortunately do not recall if I did or not. Is that correct?

That is correct. Fingers are not a method of transmission.
One does not have whitlow with symptoms, that I have ever heard, no. And with fingers, it is only infectious when there is an outbreak as the skin of the finger is too thick for the virus to be shed, like genitals.
We are happy to answer repeat questions - for you, it's a new question and that's what matters.

Awesome, thank you so much. So last question/recap just to make sure I understood everything. I wouldn't have given myself genital herpes in my situation even if I did touch my genitals after, and since I haven't had any outbreak on my finger, I can assume I don't have herpetic whitlow, correct for both?
Thank you much again for the response and providing this service, the more time I'd spend googling this, the more it was confusing/worrying me.

I agree totally with your first statement, you are correct.
I have no idea if you might have had herpes before this, but I don't believe that THIS encounter would have given you herpes, correct.
