[Question #8611] Body body massage and psoriasis

Good morning and thank you for your help. I am writing from Spain.
During the last two months I have gone 6 or 7 times to a masseuse who gave me body body massages. There has been no penetration of any kind.
We were both naked and she sat on my buttocks and rubbed her buttocks and maybe vagina on my skin. It is possible that vaginal fluids were rubbed on my skin. I have small pink spots diagnosed as psoriasis on my buttocks. I know that fluids on healthy skin is not a danger for hiv, but I don't know if my psoriasis can change anything. They are just pink spots, they are never open or bleed, and they come and go seasonally.
Do I have any risk of contracting HIV? Do I need a test? Can I have sex without risk for my wife?

Welcome to our forum and thanks for your confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to comment. Naked, total body massage of the sort you describe is an entirely no risk of it for HIV and other STIs. Even if your masseuses genital secretions came in contact with your skin, including psoriasis lesions, there would be no risk for infection. I see no reason for concern and no reason for testing. There is no reason related to the encounters you describe to hesitate in the least about having unprotected sex with your wife.
Please don’t worry. EWH

When I have massages like the ones I have described, it is because I try to avoid penetrative sex with a condom, as I have read some articles of studies in discordant couples that give consistent condom use an efficacy between 60% and 80%. However I have read in this forum that condoms if they don't break are zero risk, can I be 100% confident in using condoms despite these studies?

Yes you can have complete confidence in the effectiveness of correct and consistent condom use. The 60 to 80% figure relates to prevention of pregnancy which is more difficult to prevent than STI’s. Remember, in pregnancy prevention sperm are motile and longer live than bacteria and viruses. Have confidence in your condoms. EWH---

I refer to this and similar studies

Final response. This study evaluates the use of condoms in relationships in which one partner is known to have HIV and the other is not. Most of the study sided here are persons with ongoing relationships and multiple exposures. This is the highest risk potential situation for acquisition of HIV and does not reflect the reality of persons who are having sex with persons of unknown status. Please remember, most people do not have HIV.
