[Question #8693] HIV Risks

Hello!

I recently received an erotic massage and during the massage the masseuse kept running her hands over my anus and at times what felt like partially in my rectum. I have hemorrhoids and because of this the lining of my anus often tears and bleeds a bit. After the massage I used the restroom and I had actually noticed there was a bit of blood on the toilet paper I used. Just to be extra careful I wanted to check in to see if I was at any risk for HIV. The only possible method of transfer I can think of is if the masseuse had a cut on her finger and it came into contact with tears on my anus. It's only been a few hours since possible exposure so I can immediately go on PEP if need be. Any advice is greatly appreciated and as always thank you so much for taking the time to read my question.

Welcome back to our forum. I’ll be glad to comment. The encounter you describe was a no risk event and there is no scientific or medical reason for you to seek PEP  related to it. You do not know that the masseuse had HIV and statistically it is unlikely. Further, even if her hand/finger entered your anus, this would not put you at risk for HIV. This is the case even if she had a cut or abrasion on her finger.  There are no instances or occasion sandwich HIV has been proven to be transmitted in this fashion. There is no reason for concern related to this exposure and no reason for testing. There is certainly no reason to seek PEP.

Please don’t worry. EWH
