[Question #8771] Test results

I had negative test results today for gon and chla. my urine was taken about 45 minutes after I had gone to restroom before. Are my results accurate

Welcome back, but sorry you found it necessary -- especially since this question was answered in one of your previous discussions. It was more than two years ago, so I don't blame you for forgetting. In response to essentially the same question about urine specimens for gonorrhea and chlamydia, I wrote this:

"Neither the time nor the amount of urine makes much difference. Those were official guidelines when the tests were new, but 20 years of experience shows it makes no difference. A negative test result is always reliable."

I also reviewed your recent discussion with Dr. Hook and agree with his advice. There is little chance you have any STI, so most likely your urine test will be negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. If so, the result will be reliable and conclusive.
