Hi Doctor,
I had unprotected oral sex from a masseuse in Greece ( 3 exposures) 8 months ago.
I keep worrying about HIV risk, For few months now I have symptoms like mild headaches and insomnia and low energy and ear ringing,  dry mouth, And always feel like not sleeping well. I have aniexty over testing as well. Do you think I should test? My mind is occupied by this

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your question.  I’ll be glad to comment.  The encounter you describe was a virtually no risk event.  Most commercial sex workers do not have HIV and, more importantly.  There are no proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex and you are not going to be the 1rst.  I see no medical or scientific reason for testing related to the exposure you describe.  On the other hand, if it would provide you with reassurance, testing at this time will be conclusive and, I’m confident that the test will show that you were not infected.

I hope this perspective is helpful.  EWH

Thank you doctor. I will try to get myself to test. I am still very anxious about it. I have a question. I noticed small red blotch on my shoulder, it has been there for few months now, could it be related to any std? It looks like psoriasis from pictures I saw online

It is difficult to make a diagnosis over the internet, even with pictures.  The lesion you describe however does not suggest any STI. Further, this would be an unusual place for psoriasis to occur.  I’d suggest having a clinician take a look.  It could be a minor fungal infection but I’m confident it is not an STI.   EWH ---

Thank you doctor. It looks like a small ringworm too. I will have it checked. I think I am just anxious about my past sexual encounter. I appreciate your help.
