Welcome to our forms. Thanks for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment.  This was a low risk encounter. View STIs are transmitted through receipt of oral sex. The STI’s which are transmitted in this way are most typically gonorrhea rightists, either which would be expected to cause symptoms within 3 to 7 days following exposure. Even if your partner had untreated HIV, there is no risk of HIV from receipt of oral sex. There are no proven cases in which persons have a quiet HIV from receiving oral sex.

Bartholin’s glands can become infected and uncomfortable for women with these infections. Bartholin’s gland infections may to be due to STI’s or other bacteria but the presence of a Bartholin’s gland infection does not mean that the person’s throat is infected and would be transmitted to you.

Overall this was a low risk exposure. If you remain asymptomatic I would not worry however, if you choose to be absolutely sure you were not infected, the most important test for you to pursue would be a urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If any part of my responses unclear or there are other questions, please don’t hesitate to use your up to two follow ups for clarification.

Thank you for getting back to me , i was considering pep , but everything i read said not to do for oral sex,  does the swollen lymph nodes in the jawline or possible bumps or warts on her face change anything and thank you all for the work you do

I strongly recommend against pet if you only received oral sex.

Swollen lymph nodes at the jawline are very, very nonspecific and could arise from dental problems, a non-STI sore throat, or acne, amongst other things.  I sincerely doubt that the rask/lesions you saw on her face were warts..

Facial warts are extraordinarily uncommon. The facial rash you saw may have been bad acne or some other dermatologic process but is unlikely to be due to any STI.

What the turnaround time for laboratory test results to become available is highly variable.  After the specimen is obtained, it must be transported to the laboratory, it must be processed in the laboratory, and results must be recorded and returned. All of this can take several days.. For it to take 2, 3, or even more days following a test is not unusual and certainly does not signify any problem.

I should add, that while your negative HIVRNA test is very strong evidence that you did not acquire HIV from the encounter you described, most experts would still recommend a follow up combination HIV antigen/antibody test at six weeks for entirely conclusive results. This recommendation admittedly reflects a very conservative approach to test interpretation but I felt that I should extend to you the information regarding official recommendations.

As you know, we provide up to three responses to each clients questions. This is my third response and thus this thread will be close shortly without further responses.  Take care. EWH
