Good Day Doctors,
Around May 9-11, I had sex with a CSW Female. She wore A condom, lasted maybe 15 mins tops. Condom stayed intact because I saw my cum in it. This Thursday, I started to feel tired them by Friday morning I had the low grade fever, congestion, dry cough, muscle aches and chills. So at night, I took a flu test and covid-19 test and it was negative. I was thinking what could this be, it feels like covid-19. But my last sexual experience was about 6 weeks ago. Could this be ARS? Can explain two day of fever, dry cough. My two number one signs. No sore throat, muscle aches was yesterday, not today. I am totally scared, I wore a condom. sorry worried.

Welcome to our forum. Thanks for your question. I am confident that the symptoms you describe are unrelated to the sexual encounter you described six weeks ago. The encounter that you described was a virtually no risk event. Most commercial sex workers do not have STI’s including HIV and condoms are highly effective for HIV prevention when worn throughout the sex act. In addition, the symptoms of the ARS, high fever, severe sore throat, and muscle or joint aches typically occur between one and three weeks following acquisition of HIV. The ARS does not occur more than 30 days following acquisition of HIV. Thus you can be quite sure that the symptoms you have described are not related to the virtually no risk encounter that you described. If you wish further assurance that this is not HIV, an HIV test taken at this point, six weeks following the exposure, will be conclusive and provide proof that you did not require HIV from the exposure you have described.
