[Question #9033] Oral Sex with a sex worker
36 months ago
|
Hi dr.
I am a 30 year old male
A few 22 days ago, a massage girl had oral sex with me using a condom. At the time I wasn't aware of STDs and didn't know they could be transmitted orally.
The condom expired 2 months ago but it didn't leak
I had no health symptoms after the
accident
I have a period of vitamin deficiency and I did the tests two days ago and found my whole blood cells (WBCs) 11.73
Normal from 4-11
01What's the risk of getting an STD from this activity?
02Should I carry on with unprotected sex with my significant other?

Welcome to our forum thanks for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment.
You can be confident that the condom you used performed as intended. The “use by” dates on condoms indicate the time when there is a tendency for condoms to begin to break more often than they do before that date due to deterioration of the latex in the condom . If your condom did not visibly break during the encounter, you can be confident it did not. Condoms do not leak “just a little” and when they fail, they break wide-open. Also, as an FYI, in general, condom break less often during receipt of oral sex than vaginal sex and, in turn, break less often during vaginal sex and during rectal sex. Thus, in response to your questions:
1. Through the use of a condom your risk of acquiring an STI from the exposure is described is virtually zero. I would not be concerned and would not bother with testing.
2. Because of the virtually no risk nature of your encounter, I would not hesitate to advise you to continue to have unprotected sex with your regular partner.
I hope this information is helpful to you. If there further questions, please don’t hesitate to use you were up to follow ups for clarification. EWH

Thank you doctor, one last question to close the topic.
Do I need to worry about HIV here?

No, there is no risk for HIV from the exposure you described. Firstly, most commercial sex workers do not have HIV. Secondly, a condom was used. Thirdly and most importantly however, there has never been a proven case of HIV acquired through receipt of oral sex. There is no risk whatsoever for HIV from the exposure you described. No need for concern, no need for testing.
As you know, we provide up to three responses to each clients question. This is my third response. Therefore this thread will be close shortly without further responses. Take care. Please don’t worry. EWH
