[Question #9048] Risk escort

Hi Dr
I recently went to an escort who offers a massage service.. my worry is the following
On the way to the ladys house i scratched my leg bleeding and during the massage we were both fully nude and i guess in the moment i wasnt thinking and rubbed the top of my leg on her vagina to stimulate her and i realised my wound was still there and came into contact with her vaginal opening..
Is this a risk i should get tested for or is it safe to let go of this and move on
There is also a girl im starting to see and would like to have unprotected sex with her should i wait to get tested or am i safe to proceed

Thankyou

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. I happened to come to the site shortly after your question arrived so you are receiving a response more quickly than is typical. Any follow-ups may take longer.

This was a no risk event, both for HIV and for virtually all other STI’s. The reason I say this are the falls following:
1.  Most escorts masseuses do not have HIV.
2.  Even in the unlikely event that she did have HIV or another STI, the contact you described is not associated with transmission of infection. Contamination of recent, open wounds with genital secretions virtually never leads to transmission of infection. For infection to be transmitted one needs to either engage in unprotected, penetrative sexual contact or inject infectious material deep in the tissue. Incidental contact of a recent, open wound with genital secretion does not fit the description and does not place you at risk.

I see no reason for concerned and no reason for testing related to the event that you describe. Similarly, as your relationship with your new partner evolves I see no reason related to this event to obstain from unprotected sexual contact.

I hope the information I provided is helpful to you. Take care. Please don’t worry. EWH

Hi doc
Sorry to harp on its just that i read one of the responses dr handsfield wrote and it stirred a bit of anxiety in me.. a gentlemen had cuts on the base of his penis and in which the condom was not covering and he said its low risk but not zero and that he should seek testing for this and i feel like this may be similar to my situation having a cut and all

i do suffer from health anxiety and i have been treating it with a therapist and ive gotten a lot better as of lately and im so sorry for the continious reassurance seeking behaviour but im just a bit frightened at the moment.. but i will do my best to move past this

If i do decide to test would a rapid test that is not 4th gen suffice at the 56 day mark

Thank you respected dr hook

I believe your anxiety is causing you to be overly concerned. I am confident that Dr. Handsfield would agree with my assessment. While there is an infinitesimal and theoretical possibility that a person with a fresh cut might acquire HIV or other blood-borne infections if that cut was contaminated by genital secretions, the risk is on the order of magnitude of being struck by a meteorite falling from space. I am not aware of that I’ve never heard of a proven case of HIV acquired in the manner you’ve described. You are not going to be the first.

If you choose to test, a fourth generation test will provide conclusive results at six weeks (42 days) and an antibody only test such as most rapid tests, would be conclusive at 56 days (six weeks)
