[Question #9101] Blood trace through urine test

Hello
Age 33
I have had a history of warts in my past that have been removed on my body. I had a recent physical with my doctor who found blood trace through a urine test. She was not too worried and wants me to come back in a month to do another one.
My question is can HPV which causes penile cancer through urethral warts cause microscopic blood in urine?
Can HPV cause penile cancer as it seems to say it does based on what I have been reading. I did a physical last year where nothing was wrong but this year they found it.
I have not been sexually active for a long time.
Thank you.

Welcome back, but I'm sorry you found a need once again -- especially since all your questions were about obviously low risk exposures and/or symptoms that do not suggest STDs.
Penile cancer caused by HPV is external, on the surface of the penis, generally with a wart-like growth or a non-healing sore; never, as far as I know, in the urethra. It is not a known cause of blood in urine. And penile cancer is rare, and always easily curable when treated promptly. It's really nothing to worry about. As your doctor has told you, trace amounts of blood in the urine occur in healthy people from time to time and usually don't indicate anything serious, and never in my experience due to any STD. Follow your doctor's advice about follow-up testing, but this is nothing to be seriously worried about.
As implied by my opening comments, your questions on the forum have been somewhat excessive, and repeated anxiety driven questions are discouraged -- and ultimately are subject to deletion without reply, and without refund of the testing fee. Given your overall low risk for STDs, this probably isn't the best resource every time you have a new symptom you are concerned about!
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
