[Question #9128] Massage question

|
I have had 3 massages at an Asian massage facility, they involved no genital-genital contact, no hand-vagina contact, no penetration or intercourse, did include hand to penis contact, use of massage oil, body rub, I thought I was being fairly safe. Recently I discovered a wart on the palmar surface of my middle finger that got me thinking. I am mainly concerned about passing a high risk hpv to my wife, who is 70 and not getting pap smears anymore. From what I have read on the forum, I think I am zero risk of doing that. Is that true? Also, can a hand wart cause a genital wart after hand contact? Thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome back to the forum. Thank you for your continued confidence in our services.
Some questions can be accurately answered based on very minimal information -- in this case, maybe the title you chose for your question. Nobody in the world has ever been known to catch HIV or other STIs from a massage, assuming the massage did not include overt sexual activity (intercourse, a "happy ending" by oral sex, etc. There is no possibility your hand wart is from the massage. Even if we accept the very slim possibility that occurred, the genital (sexually transmitted) types of HPV rarely if ever cause infection on the hands, feet, etc. Virtually all such infections are due to non-sexually transmitted HPV infections, usually with HPV type 1 (the same type that causes most childhood warts). Assuming your self-diagnosis is correct, almost certainly you are experiencing a recurrence of a childhood hand wart infection. In addition, you are correct that hand warts are rarely if ever self transmitted to the genital area.
As implied, you might consider seeing a doctor (ideally a dermatologist) to confirm the diagnosis. If the finger lesion is highly typical, your self diagnosis probably is correct -- but it cannot hurt to have professional confirmation. There are skin bumps and lesions other than warts.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks for your response. It sounds like it would be ok to engage in usual practices with my wife with no further testing. Is that correct?

That is, no further testing indicated for myself or my wife. Correct?

I see no need for testing of any kind, and certainly no need to change your normal sexual practices with your wife.---

Those additional queries are the product of an OCD mind. You can close the encounter, Thanks for your help.
