Hi there Dr, i was talking to You's a few weeks ago i just want to update you in short but comprehensively  what i went through & whats happening now. I also have a couple of questions.

9th of August i was with a csw & was concerned about a potentially damaged condom that i thought looked like had let the womans menstrual blood in around the head of my penis.

15th of Aug ( 6 days later) a rash came up on my hands & feet soles accompanied with, joint pain swollen glands, no appetite, feeling like vomiting, tiredness, weakness in legs.

22nd of aug, done a blood test which came back all clear for hiv & stis.

6th sep, started to get very painful headaches which would come & go

9th sep, headache was so bad i went to hospital. A blood tests was done ( not std screening) & i was told that they could see by inflammatory markers that i had a recent past infection of some type. Headaches were on & of since then along with fatigue & general rough feeling.

Then yesterday i attended my 6 week sti screening ( which I'm awaiting the results on) but yesterday & right now i have the headache, chills, shivers, slight sore throat absolutely zero appetite the last number of days.

My question is what is the typical pattern & combination of hiv symptoms when they come on? Also im on week 6 now would 6 weeks be past the window period for an onset of early hiv symptoms? I am awaiting my blood results but these symptoms coming on have worried me. I never normally get headaches & I've had this come & go from the 6th of this month. Any advice/input would be much appreciated.

Welcome back to the forum. I’m surprised you felt the need. The questions you ask above have been answered both by myself and Dr. Handsfield within the last few weeks. Repeating the questions will not change the answers. When symptoms are present due to recently acquired HIV or for that matter any other STI, tests are uniformly positive. You have been tested during the period which you were symptomatic and had negative tests this proves that your symptoms were not due to HIV or any other STI.  The window. For the development of symptoms from recently acquired HIV typically develop between one and three weeks following exposure. For symptoms of recently acquired HIV to occur and persist six weeks is virtually unheard of. Further, when recently acquired HIV cause symptoms, they do not come and go as your symptoms do.  You need to look for other reasons for your symptoms. I am completely confident that the tests that you had will come back negative and show that you were not infected by the virtually no risk exposure that you reported in the past post to myself add to Dr. Handsfield.

It is past time for you to move on from your concerns about HIV related to the exposure you reported earlier. Your weight loss and other symptoms are absolutely compatible with tension, anxiety and it’s related effects. My sincere advice is for you to work with your private provider to address the symptoms that you have. If his or her evaluation is negative then or perhaps even before then, seeking the input from a trusted professional counselor may help to address your problems.

These answers are not going to change. I hope they are helpful and hope you do not find them overly direct. EWH

Thank you Dr Hook for you're reply i appreciate it i really do & i do absolutely 100%  listen to you & Dr handsfield & i even try reassure myself by telling myself the first test was negative when i had symptoms going on so it can't be hiv. But then my mind can work against me & say ' but what if this  & what if that' over thinking/reading into it. I know what you're saying about anxiety & stress it can cuase lots of symptoms including lack of appetite, tiredness, ect.. But theres definitely something not right about me as the test at the hospital indicated. The dr said there was definitely some sort of recent past infection & they could see the remnants of some kind of infection based on the test results maybe a viral infection? The Dr has arranged for bloods to be taken to look at a potential thyroid problem. At the moment my tounge has bad thrush/candida on it & 3 of 4 pimples on it, i did have diarrhea for a while but its gone now as have my joint pains, my rash on my hands & feet has gone to but left bad peeling skin on the soles & palms. Last night also i got a rash come up on my ankle & today its subsided to the point its pretty much gone! I know this extra info is probably not helpful or anything but i thought id just add it. I mentioned to dr handsfield before i had a previous infection for lyme in 2017 & i took around 6 months of antibiotics which i believe has ruined my gut flora/good bacteria & thats why i have a bad candida problem coming & going especially if stressed or worried. As i say these come & go symptoms are confusing to me i will await my sti blood results in a few days time & hopefully my results will be all clear & that will put this to bed once & for all & I'll not bother having insertive sex with any escorts again as its not worth the aggro & stress of a potential condom failing. A massage is safe enough & the best bet i think when you're dealing with people you don't even really know. But i will also attend my local Doctors surgery to get the bloods taken to look at a possible thyroid problems the Dr at the hospital mentioned. I think I've done enough typing about this now & i appreciate you advising me i will come back on & update this in a couple of days to tell you my blood results. Hopefully all will be well & i can move forward thank you

All of what you recount serves to verify your need to put aside your concerns that your current problems and related symptoms are not related to the sexual encounter you described.  Einstein said that one definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect different results.  Believe your HIV results and work with your doctor to determine STI/HIV problem is causing your difficulties.  Focusing on your prior sexual encounters Will only waste time and resources. Hi Dr Hook, just a quick update just phoned the clinic & my results are all negative so thats a relief & a weight of my shoulders. The lady advised me to test again at 12 weeks but from what ive read on previous posts by yourself at 6 weeks the results are reliably conclusive & my most recent test was actually past the 6 week mark by a couple of days so all should be OK. I'm going to now work with my dr & do different blood tests to ascertain what is happening with my body as i still have bad symptoms. I really appreciate your help & advice so thank you very much all the best & take care

Thank you for the follow up. I can assure you that testing again at 12 weeks will only show once again that you were not HIV infected. I’m pleased to hear that you are going to work with your doctor to look for other causes of your symptoms because they certainly are not due to HIV.

As you know, we provide up to three responses to each client’s questions. This is my third response to this set of questions. You have now ask three sets of questions of Dr. Handsfield and myself regarding the same topic. The questions and the answers have become repetitive and no further questions on this topic will be excepted. Should you post again your question may be deleted without a response and without return of your posting fee. This is forum policy which is in place for your benefit. There is no benefit to repeated, anxiety – driven questions.

I wish you the best. EWH
