[Question #9294] Been in a neurotic state for 6 months

Hi,
To start off with my name is Alex and I’ve in a state of neurosis for the last 6 months.
On April 4, 2022 I had my last hook up with this guy I was seeing from September-April of this year. I got back with my ex bf around this time. I started getting weird symptoms in April then oral thrush in May. July I started itching, now I get rashes that come and go, joint muscle pain, tingling.
I got tested on June 6 those test results came back negative. That was around 64 days after getting tested. I did test positive for Hep A as well did my bf. Both of my partners tested negative for hiv. They have been the only partners I’ve had in the 26 years of my life.
I cry everyday because I don’t know what is wrong with me. My doctors won’t test me again due to both my partners testing negative. She says I have no reason why to be anxious if I’m fine. I told her my symptoms and she dismissed them. She even dismissed me having hep a show up on my test as reactive. I had told her my bf was reactive too. I feel like I’m going crazy. My bf has rashes too and he says it’s the dust mites in our home. I feel like I’m slowly dying and not getting the proper care that I need. Please help me, I feel like I’m not alive anymore and I’m just a body. My mind is always panicking that my 9 week test was false.

I forgot to mention around April 9-29 I had burning sensation and a red mark on my outer labia skin where the pubic hair is. I thought I had herpes at first. It was rough and dry.

One more thing to add how did I forget! My lymnodes always hurt my neck and my armpits! My doctor told me they aren’t swollen but why do they all hurt me.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your confidence in our service. I'll be glad to comment and hope that the reassurance that I'm about to provide will be helpful to you. Fist and most importantly, you do not have HIV. Tests for HIV are typically conclusive 6 weeks after an exposure and if tests are negative when symptoms are present, the negative test proves that the symptoms are not due to HIV because tests are always positive in the presence of symptoms (the symptoms are due to the presence of the virus and the antibodies to the virus). Once a test is positive, tests remain positve. Thus your 6 negative tests are conclusive proof that you do not have HIV. Your doctor is correct.
In addition, hepatitis A is not typically an STI. Hepatitis A is more often acquired by eating contaminated food. Many people will have positive tests for hepatitis A either because they had the infection in the past without knowing it or were vaccinated for the virus. Again, the positive tests for hepatitis A are not a concern and are certainly not a sign of STI.
Finally, the symptoms you describe raise no concerns about STI either.
I hope these reassurance are helpful to you. You certainly do not need further testing for STIs. You might benefit from the help of a trained counselor to help you address these unwarranted fears. EWH

Hi doctor, I did not take 6 tests, I only took one at 9 weeks from the in counter with my ex partner.

I apologize for misreading your original questions. That said, a result 9 weeks after an exposure is entirely conclusive and should be believed. Tests for HIV are among the most reliable tests in all of medicine. EWH---

One last question, so HEP A does not delay the seroconversion process?

No, hepatitis A would have no effect at all on seroconversion. Have confidence and believe your test results.
We provide up to three responses to each client's question. Thus this thread will be closed shortly. Please don't worry. EWH
