Hi
I had protected vaginal sex with a CSW but the condom slipped while she was withdrawing, condom was hanging from her Vigina after she stood up during withdrawal (was sitting on top of me)

I have done HIV DUO 4th Gen  at 29 days in London (negative) also Syphilis and hepatitis A,B,C (also all negative at 30 days)

I also done Gonorrhea and chlymidia HSV 1 HSV 2 and syhilis  at two weeks all negative

I have been having anxiety since

Clinic says that I can consider my self HIV free if test is negative after 28 days and it have over 99% accuracy

I also see other STD clinics in London saying that this test is 99.8% accurate after 28 days

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your questions.  I'll be glad to comment.

Congratulations on your commitment to safe, condom protected sex. It will do much to keep you safe.  FYI, when the condom remains within the vagina as the penis is withdrawn, the condom has done its job and typically infections are not a problem.  Your tests provide further assurance that you were not infected.  While most sites state that HIV 4th generation, DUO tests are not entirely conclusive until 6 weeks following an exposure and quote figures in the neighborhood of 99% accuracy at 4 weeks, we have never seen or heard of a person whose tests went on to become positive following a negative test at 4 weeks.  Given that you did use a condom and your test results, I urge you to be confident that you did not get HIV or any other STI from the encounter you describe.

I hope that my reassurance is helpful in relieving your concerns.  EWH

I would like to also mention that I took ONE dose of PEP at 48 hours as I panicked and went to ER, but then stopped as I read the side effects are serous and was traveling back home and have no doctor to follow up

Can one dose PEP at 48 hours effect my result at 29 days?

Thank you for the additional information.  One dose of PEP is unlikely to have any meaningful impact on your test results.  Your encounter was safe sex.  Out of an abundance of caution, perhaps best to repeat your DUO test at 6 weeks (42 days).  I am confident that it will again show that you were not infected.  EWH---

Is you recommendation to do a test at 6 weeks because of the PEP pill I took?

This risk was in Prague (Romania girl) I did the test in London at 4 weeks but now at my home country don’t have DUO test..

Are you very concerned about the one pill will effect the test results as your recommendation changed?

Should I travel and get tested at 6 weeks?

Thank in advance

The DUO test performed was laboratory test on 29th day if that information matters.. PEP was taken only one pill at 48 hours

These a repetitive questions.  I said above " One dose of PEP is unlikely to have any meaningful impact on your test results.  Your encounter was safe sex.  Out of an abundance of caution, perhaps best to repeat your DUO test at 6 weeks (42 days).  I am confident that it will again show that you were not infected."  The answer will not change.  I would not worry but I would repeat your test at six weeks.  EWH---

I did the test at 7 weeks (negative), but am now freaking out as I done it in STD Clinic in London and scared that there would be risk from blood draw.. doctor didn’t use alcohol cotton before drawing blood making me freak out more

I did ask to use a needle in wrap which I saw but did not touchy it to physically see it was really sealed.. am I at risk?
1- Reused butterfly needle has to have visible blood in tube connector (tube that connects needle to blood tube). Am I right?
2- Butterfly needle is inseperable from tube connector. Am I right?
3- Is it possible to reuse butterfly needle because I read that the blood clots at the tip of needle so it becomes impossible to take off blood. Is this right?

Final response:

No one has been infected in the manner you suggest.  Your blood was drawn by a trained professional.  Thus:
1.  Correct, in the butterfly was being reused you’d see blood in the tube.
2.  Correct
3.  This is silly.

Please don’t worry.  Your test will be negative.  When it is you need to stop worrying and move forward.

End of thread.  EWH
