[Question #9308] Monkeypox from stripclub

Hi Doctors,

I am thinking of visiting the strip club. I am afraid of contracting Monkeypox from either touching her body or her touching mine. Is this a legitimate concern or am I overthinking?

Welcome back to the forum, but I'm sorry you found it necessary.

There have been few if any reports of monkeypox infection in women, or being transferred in strip clubs or similar environments. Virtually all cases continue to occur in men having sex with other men -- usually those with multiple partners. In theory MPX virus could be transmitted by hand-genital or genital-genital contact of the sort that can occur in strip clubs, but to my knowledge it has not happened and you're not likely to be the first case! I really don't think you should be worried about it.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Your new question was really a follow-up to this one. You wrote:

I had a lap dance from a somewhat aggressive stripper. She kissed my ear and cheek, although they didn’t feel wet. She touched her vagina and then touched my arm then face(only happened once, not too worried on that). At one point her nipple touched my eye, but there were no signs of infection on it.

was also moving furniture prior to visiting the strip club, and my hands were sore/hurt, but no signs of open wounds or blood.

I don’t believe I’m in any risk, but I would like your opinion.

You're exactly right with "I don't believe I am at risk". They call certain infections sexually transmitted for good reason. This event certainly had sexual elements (that's what strip clubs are all about), but you did not have sex. There is no chance of any STD from these events. Contact with breasts and nipples of course is risk free -- no more chance of infection than shaking hands. That is, zero.

Hi Dr.Handsfield,

I would like to follow up on the micro cuts/burns on my hands from moving furniture.

I am curious on the risk factor for getting common warts from touching her (not the HPV strain for the genitals, I know that isn't possible). I grabbed her buttocks, breasts, and briefly held her hand. I've read micro cuts can catch the virus.

Common hand warts are caused by different HPV types than those transmitted sexually. No risk at all.

That completes the two follow-up exchanges included with each question and concludes this thread. I hope the discussion has been helpful. Best wishes.
