[Question #9338] Hep B risk from unprotected oral
33 months ago
|
This question is for Dr. Hook, it is a follow up to a risk
factor had in the past that I asked about Hep C, but I should have also asked
about Hep B. I had an encounter with a FSW where I was receiving oral
without a condom, during the incident she cut the shaft of my penis with her
teeth. I didn't realize until after we were finished, but I saw a slight
cut that had blood from it. Dr. Hook at the time said that this was a
non-risk event for Hep C – but would you have the same opinion about Hep B? Is there any risk here and you said that no
testing was needed for Hep C – what about Hep B, would you recommend a test for
this incident?

I'm sorry to see that your OCD and unwarranted anxiety continue. This is your 10th question this year. That is clearly excessive and suggests that rather than asking again and again about virtually no risk situations youneed to move forward. One way to do this is to seek professional help in dealing with your OCD/anxiety. The second is to get vaccinated for Hepatitis B as Dr. Handsfield and now I have suggested. Vaccination is safe and highly protective.
In answer to your question- there is no evidence that Hepatitis B is transmitted through receeipt of oral sex. This is true even with the cut on your penis that you describe. You do not need testing.
Please seek help for your OCD. EWH

My OCD is triggered because I had a false positive test back in 1999 for HBcAB - it triggers me when I think about it because it scares me that maybe somehow my markers disappeared / waned on their own by 2013 & 2022 (tests results for the three markers HBcAB, HBsAG, HBsAB all negative) when I tested again - that if they did want that it wasn't that I never had hep b and it wasn't a false positive - that somehow either my HBsAG or HBsAB disappeared along with my HBcAB - Dr. Handsfield has told me this is impossible - do you agree? I was thinking of getting a Hep B DNA test - but my doctors here tell me that would be totally redundant - that HBcAB is basically the same as a DNA test - because they are markers for life so if one is negative the other will also be negative, that you don't even test for DNA unless the HBcAB is (+) - do you agree with them? I am getting treatment for my OCD - I will try really hard not to bother you all again as all my questions are from the past. If you could just answer these two questions I just asked I think it will really help me to put away the false positive fear and that with my OCD treatment I can get better and I won't ever be on the forum again, because I never want to put myself in this situation again bc what this really is, is guilt from the past. Thank you for all the help you have given me and so many others over the years.

I know the story of your false positive test for hepatitis B core anybody well. I also agree entirely with Dr. Handsfield. You had a false positive and have never had hepatitis B. After all these years you need to accept that as a fact.
Your doctors are correct. Getting a hepatitis B DNA test is totally redundant and a waste of resources.
I wish you the best going forward with the treatment of your OCD. EWH

Okay Doc - I will try really hard to keep my OCD under control - what I am worrying about is all theoretical nonsense - this is all my OCD isn't it?

Yes, this is clearly a manifestation of your OCD.
As this is my third reply, this completes this thread and it will be closed now. At this time I must warn you that additional questions regarding risk for hepatitis of any sort may be deleted without a response without a return of your postings. This is done in order to not continue to reinforce your OCD.
I wish you the best. EWH
