[Question #9380] Oral sex and HSV2

Hello, thank you for taking the time to answer questions. I hope you are well.

About 8 weeks ago i received oral sex from someone with HSV2. We did not have sex, only oral. As far as I know, she only had HSV2 genitally and only gets breakouts genitally. She is also on medication for HSV2. I ended up getting the western blot done with my doctor and it came back negative. However, I’m still worried because I received oral sex and I know that 12 weeks is the recommend amount of time to wait to test with WB test.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to ask multiple questions, but..

Should I be worried about this one time encounter of receiving oral sex?

If so, should I do another western blot? It did come back negative and I’ve been fighting myself on whether or not I should get another one because I received oral sex

Is it possible to contract HSV2 from receiving oral sex? I’m somewhat certain she only had HSV2 genially.

Can HSV2 cause Balanitis? My dermatologist looked at the gland and she said it was nothing, however, there are tiny red spots that get worse with heat or friction.

There was no need to take the first western blot and a second one is certainly not necessary.  If someone has genital herpes, they don't shed from their mouth, only their genitals.
Balanitis is just a word to describe inflammation of the head of the penis, most is caused by candida, a kind of yeast or fungus.  It is normally not related in any way to genital herpes.
I think this is something you can take off your worry list completely.

Dr. Handsfield closed our thread, so i wanted to say thank you to you both for your kindness and help. It turns out that I do not have a wart or anything else, so thank you both for your reassuring answers.

I hope you all stay safe!
