[Question #9463] STD risk from a handjob

I recieved a handjob from a massage worker.  She touched my scrotum and gave me handjob with oil.  That is all the contact.   Are there any STDs I could have contracted from this contact? like HIV or Herpes.  I am a married man, prior to this, I have only had sexual contact with just my wife the last 17 years.  Am I at any risk from the handjob of passing an STD to her?

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.

No STD is transmitted by hand-genital contact; or hand contact with body surfaces or cavities -- for example, no risk by fingering (anal, vaginal, oral). That is, no risk to either partner. You can believe you acquired no infection that you could pass on to your wife -- not counting common colds, flu, covid, etc. So no worries at all, no need for testing for anything, and no need to alter your normal sexual practices with your wife.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

So to summarize there is no. need to for testing.  And I cannot pass any STD to my wife or my children when I kiss, hug, or change diapers.  Out of curiousity when would symptoms of herpes begin to show?

Your summary is exactly right.

Symptoms of newly acquired herpes (bumps that rapidly become fluid-filled vesicles [blister-like]) usually begin 3-5 days after exposure, but it can take up to 2 weeks or so. However, I do not advise waiting to resume sex with your wife.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer peoples questions.  There is a lot of misinformation out there and it is really appreciated to get information from an MD in their field.  You have helped me and so many other people more than you.  Once again thank you so much for helping others navigate their fears and their medical questions.

Sorry, in my last post my grammar wasn't so great.  I meant to say that "You have helped me and so many other people more than you realize."   Thank you for doing this.

Thanks for the thanks. I'm glad to have helped. FYI, you can reduce the misinformation food online -- although never completely escape it -- by limiting your searching to professionally run or moderated sites (like this one).

Best wishes and stay safe.
