[Question #9466] Saliva and handjob
|
Hello, I received a handjob from a sex worker where she spit on my penis for lubrication. This is the only sexual act that occurred. Should I be concerned about the possibility of getting an STI from her saliva in this situation? Thank you.

Welcome back to the forum. However, I'm a little surprised you found it necessary. You asked about an identical exposure several months ago, except that one included a minor injury to your penis. Except for reference to the abrasion, my reply last time is perfect for this question:
No STDs are transmitted by hand-genital contact. A superficial injury to the penis from vigorous stimulation is not likely to change that fact. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Other comments also included that saliva rarely transmits STDs. So all is well this time as well. I do not suggest testing.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t know if the saliva (spitting on the penis) changed the equation for STI transmission in this situation. I guess my anxiety got the best of me.

Looking back, I see that saliva in fact wasn't mentioned in your previous thread, as I thought. My mistake -- apologies. Concerns about saliva are logical; most HIV/STD education advice cites "bodily fluids" or similar terminology, without distinguishing those that carry significant risk (blood, genital fluids, inflammatory fluids like wound seepage) and those that do not, or so rarely it can be ignored (e.g. saliva, urine, sweat). But in fact saliva is actually toxic to HIV and to some extent to other STD bacteria and viruses; and in any case, regardless of fluids used, including genital fluids, hand-genital contact has rarely if ever been known or even suspected to transmit HIV or other STDs.---

So if i understand correctly even with the addition of the saliva there is practically no risk of me catching any sti’s? No need to test? And no concern about resuming sexual intercourse with my regular partner?

All correct!
That makes two follow-up comments and replies, included with each question, and so ends this thread. I hope the discussion has been helpful. Best wishes and stay safe.
