[Question #9556] Received Protected oral

I received protected oral and scrotom licking from a strip club. First test I took was 2 weeks after event and was full panel everything was negative except hsv 1 and hsv 2 both read 2.5 and above. The next test was 2 months after event and full panel again negative for all and hsv 1&2 read now 3 ratio. I went on to take 2 more test minus Hepatitis that were each a month apart. So last test was 4 months 11 days post event and everything was negative minus hsv 1 and 2. I have been to 2 doctors and both say I am clear. Been to the dentist twice because my tongue now randomly gets a burned feeling and slightly white. My skin on forearms and face will sometimes have a sun burnt feeling for no reason. I even went to a GI doc because Of hemroids I thought that could be something else. It’s now 9 months since exposure and I get a random pain in my abdomen at the bottom of my sternum. My anxiety since this event turned me into an alcoholic (heavy drinking everyday) for 4 months post event (sober now for months) my last doc pulled all of my blood work to “prove” I have nothing wrong with me. All organ function and blood work was normal. This was 7 months after event. Is this all in my head? Should I test again for hep? This is ruining my life.

Welcome to our Forum. I hope I can provide information which will reduce your concerns. This was a virtually no risk encounter. Most commercial sex workers do not have STIs and even when they do, most single unprotected exposures do not lead to infection. There is no risk for any STI from having your scrotum licked. Amongst penetrative sex acts, receipt of oral sex is lowest risk and in your case, your exposure was condom protected making it no risk. Hepatitis is not acquired from receipt of oral sex, nor is HIV and you have negative tests at times when the results are conclusive and should be believed.
---
You don’t say whether or not you think you got herpes from this encounter but your risk for herpes in this encounter was close to zero as well. HSV-2 is almost never acquired from receipt of oral sex and you test results are in the range where falsely positive results are relatively common.
I see no need for further testing of any sort. You may benefit from seeking the assistance of a trained counselor.
Hope this helps. EWH

Thank you for that breakdown. As far as HSV I have no symptoms other than pain my my left testical every few months. After this event was the first time I was ever tested for anything so I am not sure if the hsv was just in me from college where I was very sexually active( heterosexual). I’m in counseling now but my last concern is my tongue. I get this “burnt” feeling on my tongue and a hue of white on it every few weeks then the tip because very red with inflamed taste buds. Along with that sometimes red patches appear on my tongue as well. Based on my history of tests I tested the last test when this was present. GP said it just looked like I burnt my tongue in food and the dentist said he did not see a cause for concern. ( I went to him twice in two weeks) Based on my tests and results can I truly rule out all STDs? My main concern is syphilis because of my tongue symptoms.
I am now seeing a physiologist who says my symptoms are psychosomatic in nature. Based on tests results.

I'm pleased you are working with a trained counselor. Based on your tests, I urge you to accept that you did not acquire an STI from the exposure you described. No further testing is needed.
the appearance of the tongue can vary from day to day. If the abnormalities you described were due to syphilis your tests would have been positive. EWH
