[Question #9570] Condom

Hi,

I am an uncircumcised male. I met with a Chinese escort in London yesterday. She told me she is a student. She licked and sucked my nipples. She also licked my neck and my chest. She put a condom on my penis and performed oral sex on me for about 10-15 minutes. Then she removed the condom and put a new condom on my penis. We then had protected vaginal sex for another 10-20 minutes.

However, I am not sure what kind of condoms she used. I am not familiar with the brand she used. It was a Chinese brand and I think she used very cheap condoms. I worry that she used lambskin condoms rather than latex condoms. I also worry that the condoms we used contain hyaluronic acid as lubricants. My questions are:

1. Can lambskin condoms prevent HIV and STIs?

2. Can condoms with hyaluronic acid prevent HIV and STIs?

3. If the condoms she used were lambskin condoms, can I still assume that my protection was complete?

4. Can I move forward without testing for HIV and STIs?

4. Can I have unprotected sex with my regular partner?

Thank you very much for your time.

I think I would like to add some details.

A few hours after the exposure, I felt itching and mild pain near my left scrotum and the base of my penis. I can’t find any obvious cuts, so if there were cuts they must be very small cuts. I am sure there was no blood present.

Does this change your assessment?

English is not my first language, so I use Google translation. If anything is unclear, please let me know. I really appreciate your help and patience.

By the base of the penis I mean the bottom that may not be covered entirely by the condoms.

Sorry, I meant the lower third of the penis and my scrotums (by Google translation) in my last two replies. Let me know if this is unclear.

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  From the sounds of things, your partner used condoms properly.  Please remember, most commercial sex workers do not have STIs and any when they do, most single exposures to infected partners do not lead to infection.  The licking activities you experienced were no risk events in terms of STI risk.  As long as condoms cover the head of the penis and do not break, you can assume that they worked.  FYI, when condoms fail, they typically break wide open leaving no doubt that the have failed  I'll be glad to comment;

1. Can lambskin condoms prevent HIV and STIs?
Lambskin condoms are more porous than latex and also more expensive.  It would be quite unusual for a CSW to use lambskin condoms.  Even if she did, will the reduction in risk might not be as great, I would anticipate that they would also help protect from STIs.

2. Can condoms with hyaluronic acid prevent HIV and STIs?
Yes

3. If the condoms she used were lambskin condoms, can I still assume that my protection was complete?
I would

4. Can I move forward without testing for HIV and STIs?
Testing is always a personal choice but in your situation, I would not feel the  need for testing

4. Can I have unprotected sex with my regular partner?
Yes

I hope that these responses are helpful.  EWH

Thanks for your help.

A few hours after the exposure, I felt itching and mild pain near the lower third of my penis (the bottom that may not be covered entirely by the condoms) and my scrotums. I can’t find any obvious cuts, so if there were cuts they must be very small cuts. I am sure there was no blood present.

1. Does the above change your assessment?

2. As long as the condoms were intact, even if they were very cheap ones, the protection was still considered as complete. Am I right?

3. I saw old posts by Dr. HHH claims that lambskin condoms are virtually as effective as latex condoms in preventing HIV. Has this fact changed?

The onset of your symptoms was far too early to be due to Amy STI. Symptoms of all STI steak at least 2 to 3 days to occur.  Thus:

1.  No change in my assessment.  Please see above.
2.  Correct
3.  No, I agree totally.  The difference is theoretical and not something to worry about.

Your descriptions and statements are very clear.  Hope this additional information is helpful.  EWH

Thank you very much. I will move forward.

I have a final question:

I am not worried about the symptoms. I am worried that the symptoms may indicate that there were very small cuts on the lower third of my penis (the bottom that was not covered entirely by the condoms) and my scrotums when we were having sex. Although I can’t see any visible cuts now, and I am sure no blood was present.

Can I confirm with you that this does not change your assessment as well?

Correct.  Small cuts or abrasions on the uncovered base of your penis would not change my assessment.  I agree with you, time to move forward.

This completes this thread.  Take care. EWH
