[Question #9583] Risk assessment and testing plan.

Hey,
I am in a high state of panic right now.
Last night while intoxicated me and an unknown man (elderly) ended up back at his, I was relaxed but not drunk so thankfully I remember the encounter. We started off touching each other. But he the decided to perform oral sex on me, this act lasted no more than a minute before I stoped him as I feared infection. Once stopped the mood ended and I left. I didn’t ask him any questions.
Now I need a plan. So firstly I need to clear up window period.
I guessing the biggest risk is Clamydia and ghonnoria I would like to test after the week mark but all the guidelines elsewhere is 2 week which is a long time for me to panic. I have a wife and I plan of abstaining until I have cleared up this mess.
After that I plan on moving on without worry but I just want to check (because I’ll be testing online postal) that I’m right with risks and would like clarity on window period.
Thank you

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. This wa a relatively low risk encounter- you do not know that your partner had an STI of any sort and most people do not. Further receipt of oral sex is among the lowest risk penetrative sex acts a person can engage in. Oral gonorrhea is rare and oral chalmydia is rarer still and most exposures to infected partners do not result in infection. Given your situation, I understand your desire for testing.
In the interim, if you have acquired infection, the most likely infection is gonorrhea which typically (in over 90% of cases) presents with an obvious penile discharge and mild to moderate burning on urination. Non-chlamydial NGU can also follow receipt of oral sex and has similar but milder symptoms and typically takes 5-7 days for symptoms to occur.
I hope that this information is helpful. EWH
