I made a stupid mistake of mixing up clippers by mistake and cutting both of my son's hair now I do clean them with alcohol after use just in case my 4 year old was to get a hold of them by mistake. But like 3 or 4 days after cutting my kids hair with wrong CLIPPERS that I use on myself they started coughing and said there throat hurts and my 4 year old said his body hurt my oldest son had a like a bump on his lip to my knowledge I didn't cut them with clippers  so I've been very depressed and really thinking about suicide I really hope I didn't spread this to my kids they were only here for Christmas I had a hard time watching them open there gifts because I could only think about how i possibly just infected them with this I have two sets of clippers and I think I used the ones for down stairs(genital area) on me on there head I do clean them with alcohol but they did get sick like 4 days later I really don't know what to do I been drinking every day video chatting them to check on them because now there back with there mom I don't know what to do.  Is it possible that I have ruined my kids lives?
Also the lady I last dated had HPV and hsv2 unsure if she had oral infection and she only gave to oral sex so I was on receiving end and before she went down on me we kissed so I also worried about that I've tested myself 7 times since September 4th of last year when situation took place and everything is negative except for hsv2 which I've had for 17 years but I just feel like I caught something and my biggest fear right now is the kids how could I have been so stupid to cut there hair with wrong set I just couldn't live with myself if I made that kinda mistake PLEASE HELP.

Welcome to the forum. I'll try to help -- but the tone and many facts in your question suggest you are obsessed (maybe OCD?) about STD/HIV risks, and perhaps about other germs as well.

I don't see an important mistake in cutting your son's hair. Sharing clippers that contact the skin, razors, etc could be a health risk primarily because of staph, strep, and similar infections, but even these are rare. It's good to clean or disinfect them after use, if there is a chance another family member will use them, but forgetting once in a while makes little if any difference. With or without disinfection, there is no significant risk of transmitting HSV, HPV, HIV, or any other STD, even if you are infected yourself. You did not put your child at risk.

Your son's lip bump or "body hurting" do not sound serious. Young kids often get symptoms like this and usually it's not serious. Young kids also get oral herpes pretty commonly, but almost always from other young kids in schools, day care, and so on; and if from their parents, it's because mom or dad has oral herpes. There is zero risk from genital herpes in the household. If your son develops other lip bumps, sore throat, or other symptoms that concern you, he should see his pediatrician. But this has nothing to do with using your clippers to cut his hair.

All humans get genital HPV, often several times. If you have had an average sex life, you can assume you have had HPV and might still be carrying it. But oral sex is low risk for an additional HPV infection, and that event does not raise the chance your have genital HPV. The main risks from unprotected oral sex are gonorrhea, herpes due to HSV1, nongonoccal urethritis due to oral bacteria, and syphilis. The first three of these would have caused symptoms if you were infected, and the chance of syphilis is very low. (Most syphilis these day is in men who have sex with men.) But if you remain nervous about the oral sex events, you could see a doctor for evaluation and have a urine test for gonorrhea and a blood test for syphilis.

I hope these comments are helpful, especially that they allow you to stop worrying about cutting your son's hair with your clippers. That simply was no health risk.

I was unable to tell the full story on other site due to a limit in how many words you can put on health tab but HPV was also a concern I guess everything is ok and maybe im just over reacting thank you for time

I'm glad you're here now:  HealthTap has some strong points, but it is not intended for detailed assessment, medical advice, etc. It requires tweet-length questions (220 characters) and double tweet replies (440).

Yes you overreacted. You don't say what tests you had, but testing 7 times in under 6 months seems very excessive. As I said above, you may be over-concered about risks of HIV and STDs, including HPV and herpes, or perhaps just don't understand the risks. Anyway, let me know if you have any more brief follow-up questions or concerns.

Yes, that was the main point of your question. Of course I understood. You’re good.

That concludes this thread. I hope the discussion has been useful.
