[Question #9739] Herpes

When I masturbate I don’t use lotions. I normally do not masturbate with my privates out. I use masturbate over my underwear so the fabric of my underwear rubs over my penis skin. I was masturbating over my underwear yesterday and I felt a sting. I looked and my frenulum had one blister and it popped by itself. Immediately it was red and looked weird but 5 hours later it seems to have healed a bit. Could it be herpes or friction?

Something that goes away in just a few hours is not likely herpes.  I think the way that you are masturbating could the source of friction burns on the penis, for sure
If you get another blister, I would strongly encourage you to have it swab tested right away to detemine is this is herpes or not.

Hi Terri. Actually it was two blisters. Not together but separate and I thought it went away but the open sire was still there. I went to my doctor and he said if it was one blister he would say it is friction but two is definitely herpes. He gave me anti viral and it took me a couple days to get them but by the time I got them everything cleared up. It cleared in 5 days.

I think it is an error to say you definitely have herpes when it appears that no testing was actually done of the sores.  Visual diagnosis of herpes is wrong 20% of the time.  I would strongly encourage you to obtain accurate herpes antibody testing in your situation and/or wait and see if you get more blisters and have them swab tested right away.
