[Question #9834] Massage therapist

Theoretically speaking, is it possible to transmit syphilis from a massage, since there is direct rubbing on a clients skin? If it is possible, and I was exposed, would 3 days of augmentation 875/125 x2 stop syphilis from taking hold?

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for the question.  Theoretically there are some STIs which might be transmitted through direct, skin to skin (lesion to skin) contact without penetrative sexual activity.  Skin to skin, non-penetrative sexual lesion contact could theoretically transmit syphilis, herpes, HPV and monkeypox.  In reality however, transmission is this way is quite rare and the diseases we are talking about are relatively uncommon.  It is for that reason that contacts including  massage and even mutual masturbation are considered virtually no risk contacts, particularly for STIs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas and HIV.  For the other STIs I mentioned, while possible, it is very rare.

For your 2nd question, starting amoxycillin/clavulanic acid in that dose less than 24 hours after contact would certainly prevent syphilis.

I hope this information is helpful. EWH

Thank you for the quick reply, I just wanted to confirm you understood I only took 3 days worth. Still preventative? Theoretically speaking
