[Question #9841] Giving Oral
|
I am a male attached to a female. I made a mistake and performed only un protected oral sex on another married male for approx one minute. No known stds, no ejaculate or pre ejaculate. No lesions on penis etc. He does not do encounters like that often either.
I am worried about sleeping with my wife after this encounter. Am i over thinking it?

To add to this the encounter was a couple of days ago and no symptoms shown.

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment.
Performing unprotected oral sex on a partner whose infection status is low, but not no risk for acquisition of STIs. From the sound of things, your partner says he is relatively low risk and even if he were infected, most single exposures do not lead to infection. Among the infections acquired through performance of oral sex, gonorrhea is most common. Unfortunately, the absence of symptoms does not change the possibility of infection one way or another as most oral gonorrhea infections are asymptomatic. Overall, I would guess that it is unlikely that you were infected by this encounter but I cannot provide guarantees. If you wish to be 100% confident that you were not infected, a throat swab tested for gonorrhea (typically these tests test for gonorrhea and chlamydia at the same time) is the best way to be entirely confident that you were not infected.
I hope this information is helpful. While I doubt that you were infected, testing is the only way to prove that this is the case. EWH

Thanks for your reply. How soon can you get this test after?

Should I avoid all sexual contact with partner until this test, how about kissing?

Also can the oral gonohrrhea be passed via my penis with un protected sex or can it only be passed from my mouth as that was the exposed area?

Tests for Gonorrhea will provide reliable, accurate results any time more than 4-5 days after your exposure. I anticipate they will show you are not infected.
The likelihood of transmitting an oral gonococcal infection through superficial kissing is virtually zero. There is a tiny chance of transmission with deep, “French” kissing.
---If you had acquired Gonorrhea it would be a local infection and would not be transmissible from you penis.
I hope this information helps. EWH

Yes thanks for the helpful response and easing my anxiety on the matter. I will test in a few days to make sure and avoid deep kissing to be safe and continue with regular sex. Thanks

Hi Dr.,
Today I got tested oral swab, blood and urine. I received a shot of Ceftriaxone and 100mg Doxycyline twice daily for 7 days. I was not concerned about syphillus but I have been reading online and have got a little anxious. Will these meds help with any syphilius exposure also?
I am one week from exposure with no symptoms. Would a past similar encounter over 2 years ago have shown syphilis symptoms by now? It is not something I ever thought of. I hope this question isn’t past my limit and if it is I will acquire a new question.

As you know, we provide up to three responses to each client's questions. This will be my 3rd response, and therefore final, response.
Let me start with a word of caution. The internet is not your friend here. It is full of misleading and incorrect information. Much of what is there is taken out of context, out of date or just plain wrong.
I anticipate that your tests will be negative. Had you been exposed to syphilis, the antibiotics you are taking would prevent development of infection.
Had you acquired syphilis two years ago, your recent blood tests will be positive. I anticipate that they will be negative. When they are, I encourage you to move forward without concern.
I hope that the information I have provided is helpful. Please don't worry. EWH
