[Question #9842] Hiv transmission unprotected oral sex shaving cut

Hi,
I know receipt of oral sex is virtually a no risk event but just wanted to make sure since I suffer from anxiety and mild ocd. I had unprotected oral sex with an escort, it included licking of the penis and scrotum. However, I had a shaving cut on my penis that were healing at the time. It did not bleed and I did not fell any pain however I am still concerned. She told me that she tested one month prior before starting working and the test was negative. I know escorts are low risk partners and receipt of oral sex is virtually zero risk however just wanted to be sure that the cut that I have from 3 days prior does not make a meaningful difference.

Welcome to the Forum. Your question clearly indicates that you intellectually understand that there is no risk for HIV from the encounter you describe. Your partner inidcated she had been tested and did not have HIV and there are no proven cases of HIV acquired through oral sex. The presence of an earlier razor cut on your penis in no way changes the no risk nature of the encounter. You have my confident reassurance that this is the case. There is no need for concern and no need for testing. EWH---

Thank you very much for the reassurance. It really helps since sometimes my anxiety becomes a bit difficult to control. Considering that I only have protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex, do you recommend yearly testing? I remember seeing on the forum that it is advised to get tasted yearly if one follows a non-monogomous lifestyle. Thanks in advance.

Annual testing for common STIs such as Gonorrhea and chlamydia is reasonable in your circumstance. Often additional testing for syphilis and HIV is offered but is less important for you and I would consider it optional. EWH ---
