[Question #9885] High Risk accident. Tests Conclusive?

Drs., on Feb 22 I made a stupid mistake. I am a heterosexual male but recently got curious about bottoming. I met another heterosexual male on a chat. We met and I was the receptive partner. The condom broke and he finished inside. We did have a discussion before hand and he insisted that he was clean, was in a heterosexual relationship the past 3 years with his GF and has only topped one other time a year prior. He stated he gets tested every 6 months and showed me his test results from two months prior with chlymida and gonorrea and were both negative. He also got tested about two weeks after our encounter with a 4th gen HIV test which came back negative. He sent me a screen shot of the test. I still got overly worried and tested. I tested post exposure
March 3 (9 days) Hiv 4th gen, HIV RNA early test All negative (from Quest Diagnostics)
March 9 (15 days) full panel. 4th gen, HIV RNA, syphilis rpr, hep C antibody, all negative (Quest diagnostics) also had a rectal chlymidia/gonorrea swab done and it was negative as well.
March 20( 26 days) Hiv 1&2 Qualative RNA, 4th gen Hiv, both negative (from Labcorp.
April 10th (47 days) full panel. 4th gen Hiv, hep C, syphilis, hep A, hep B all negative or non reactive(from Lab corp)
Can I consider my 47 day tests completely 100% conclusive for HIv, Syphilis and Hep C and resume un protected sex with my wife?

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. The short answer is that hte testing you have done provides completely conclusive evidence that you did not acquire any of the STIs you tested for from your encounter you describe. Testing for gonorrhea at a site of exposure is conclusive any time more than 4-5 days after exposure, your testing for hepatitis Ba nd C is conclusive and your testing for HIV has been conclusive since March 20 when you have both negative HIV PCR testing and a negative 4th generation HIV test. FYI, 4th generation tests for HIV are 99% conclusive at 4 weeks and entirely conclusive at 6 weeks - when combined with a negative HIV RNSA test, tests are conclusive any time more than 4 weeks after an exposure. There is no reason related to the encounter you described to abstain from unprotected sex with your wife.
A few additional comments for future reference:
Condoms break about 1% of the time. Breakage rates are higher with rectal intercourse.
When a partner has a negative 4th generation test any time beyond a sexual encounter, they cannot have transmitted HIV.
Finally, congratulations on your frank and direct discussions with your partner. Most people tell the truth and the information is helpful.
I hope that this information is helpful. EWH

Dr. Thanks you very much for the quick reply and professional knowledge. Would my Syphilis rpr test had been conclusive as well at 47 days? Before submitting the question I had gone in one last time for a 4th gen, Hep C, and Syphillis final test at 54 days post exposure and should get those tomorrow.

Yes, you can have complete confidence in your 47 day syphilis test result. Your 54 day tests will confirm that you do not have any of the infections you tested for.

Dr. Hook. I just got my tests back from Quest Diagnostics for 4th gen Hiv, Hep C antibody, and Syphilis Rpr and all negative. I am ready to move on from this. My last question for you would be in regards to Quest and Labcorp labs. Would you consider them to be high quality trustworthy labs?
