What exactly happens to the HIV that enters the bloodstream of someone who is on PREP?

Regarding HIV life span in blood if it has no way to replicate, does the virus die or does it just remain dormant until it can have a chance to replicate?

Aka how long does it take your body to clear hiv if it can’t replicate

The answers to your question are quite complex and involve graduate-level understanding of molecular biology. The short answer is that when persons on PrEP are exposed to HIV, the virus does not replicate, dies quickly, leaves the body, and does not cause infection.

I hope this response is helpful to you. A more Detailed answer will not be possible. EWH.

Do you agree with the WHO new 2022 guidlines on discontinuing prep?

What a strange question.  WHO recommendations are carefully crafted and accurate.  They should be believed.  EWH---

I was asking since the CDC states to continue taking daily PREP for 28 days while the WHO states to continue taking daily prep for 7 days for heterosexual intercourse

Final response.  Both recommendations would be effective. The CDC is typically quite conservative.  When exposed to HIV while taking PeEP, stopping the drug five days later is protective from the earlier exposure. On the other hand, for persons who are on PrEP, starting and stopping the medication may not be a good idea,  your questions have been vague.  If you are wondering if PrEP is something you should consider, you should talk with your doctor about the specifics of your situation.

End of thread.  Take care. EWH
