Mpox is more challenging. We are still learning much about this infection. If you live in North America, the good news is that Mpox infections have become very uncommon. On the other hand, this infection can present in a variety of ways and transmission is still not fully understood. The sequence of events and lesions you described, as you already know are not suggestive of Mpox infection. However, if you have concerned the right thing to do is to go to your health department and have an experienced clinician look at if appropriate test.  Testing for Mpox is now widely available and in public health clinics is usually free; testing is also available through private laboratories, but in this situation, you may have to pay for the test. The likelihood that this is impacts is very low and the likelihood that you transmitted infection to your girlfriend is lower still.   EWH
