[Question #9951] Frottage HIV risk

Hi Doctor
My encounter did not involve in any anal sex, blowjob or deep kissing. Out of the gate, cloths off and we started preforming Frottage, his pre-cum got in contact with the tip of my pines just a small amount of it but it was there.

Q1 can HIV transmitted by the pre-cum touches the opining of my penis/urethra?
Q3 what is your advice, do you think I need to get tested?

Thanks

Welcome back to the forum.

This was a zero risk sexual exposure in regard to HIV. Such a trivial exposure event has never been known to transmit the virus. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but any risk isn microscopically low, even if your partner had HIV.

Q1. No risk; see above.

Q2. There definitely is no need for HIV testing after such an event.

FYI, I read your discussion with Dr. Hook a few months ago. Just to clarify something that concerned you then, there is not and never has been any difference between Dr. Hook's and my understanding and advice about HIV PCR testing. We always advice users to be careful in applying previous discussions to their own situation. We are not automatons, and different context can lead to different wordings which sometimes are misinterpreted, especially by anxious persons who might be prone to look for and worry about minor differences in wording. My and Dr. Hook's views on HIV PCR are identical.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear. (However, that last paragraph is not an invitation to go into any more detail about HIV PCR testing!)

Thank you Dr. Handsfield

Your reply gave me peace of mind and reassuring. however this reassuring will go away in the future month or two and the anxiety will kick again. I truly don't want to get tested because once I get the negative result I will seek another sexual relation with someone that I don't know their status then I will have anxiety again and again.

In one of your reply to someone in this forum you mention something like "Since, data and experts are not enough reassuring for some people to believe that they have no risk of HIV or their negative result" I guess I am one of them.

As I said above I don't want to get tested I want to believe that I don't need to be tested, so my last question to you, do you advice people like me to see therapist.

Thank you

As I said, there is no realistic possibility you acquired HIV during this event. I also said no testing is necessary, and you say you do not want to test. So don't do it.

Yes, counseling about your obsessions might be beneficial. That also is up to you.
