[Question #9957] Sti risk?

Good morning,
I’m sure you’re exhausted by all these massage parlor questions, but I’m confused and I’d really appreciate some guidance.
I had an erotic massage yesterday evening. No intercourse, just mutual masturbation. However, at one point she removed her panties and straddled me and proceeded to bounce up and down while masturbating me, to simulate cowgirl sex. I did not want this due to the risk of genital to genital contact so I made her get off of me once I realized what was happening.
Total exposure lasted less than 10 seconds, but as she bounced, I think her vagina (and fluids) touched my scotum a few times.
I’m concerned about my sti risk here. I know thinks like herpes and syphilis can spread via contact.
My questions are:
1. Is this exposure a risk for sti’s? If so, which ones (herpes, hpv, syphilis, trich?)
2. My understanding is that friction is required to transmit things like herpes and syphilis. Due to the brief contact and the fact that she more or less dabbed my scrotum with her vagina, does that make the risk lower?
3. Do I require testing if any kind? If so, what should I test for and how long do I need to wait for conclusive results.
4. Am I able to resume unprotected sex with my spouse or should I wait until after testing is complete?
Thank you for your time and guidance.
Jack

Welcome. Thank you for your confidence in our services.
You describe a very low risk encounter for any and all STDs. In theory, genital apposition and rubbing -- without penetration -- can be risky for those STDs transmitted skin-to-skin. You seem to know this, since you mention those three STDs: HSV, HPV, syphilis. But for all three, the very brief contact (under 10 second) probably is risk free or very close to it. There was no risk at all for the hand-genital contact. To your specific questions:
1. Discussed above: very low risk if any.
2. You apparently have read other forum discussions: thank you! -- and your statement about friction probably is correct. Probably all three of these STDs rarely take hold unless massaged into the tissues. And of course you also don't know that your partner has any of these infections.
3. I do not recommend any testing in this circumstance, and...
4. I think you can safely continue unprotected sex with your spouse. That's what I would do if somehow I were in your situation.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks, Doctor Handsfield.
Your guidance is clear and seems like I have nothing to worry about.
In the event that I did contract something like HSV…. How long would the symptoms take to manifest? Additionally, if I did develop lesions, would they be anywhere in the groin area or typical in the exact spot where the contact took place?
Thanks again!

Initial herpes lesions are always at the exact site of inoculation. It would be your penis, not the groin. Typical onset is 3-5 days after exposure, occasionally up to 2-3 weeks.---
