[Question #9959] 8 year old encounter

Hi doctor 8 years ago this july i had 3 incidents with female escorts in morroco
2 unprotected oral separate escorts
1 unprotected oral 1 vaginal protected with another escort
No Ars symptoms no std symptoms at time and have been fine for last 8 years even through covid, have never tested for hiv or any stds as felt it was safe thus resumed imtimacy with wife as we were not trying for a baby, it was protected with only oral unprotected however about 8 months after i had these incidents she had 2 flu bouts one was bad with severe sore throat flu and diarrhea also a rash that appeared under her armpits no where else on body, but i dismissed this to shaving and felt the last time we did oral was about 2 months ago so it cant have been ars
But now im really stressed as shes had a lot of health problems since the last 8 years, and also today her occipital lymph node has swollen, also itchy hands rash a few years ago, endometriosis, cysts etc
Need advice on above please
Q1 would i have been sick in last 8 years if i had hiv by now
Q2 does rash appear only under armpits
The escort i did do vaginal with me did later on send me a test confirmation showing she was negative so now im confused why all this is happening to my wife, im like 1000% sure i dont have it but there is that little doubt, kind regards

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.
You describe a virtually risk free sex life all those years ago. Oral sex is very safe, with zero risk for some STDs (including HIV) and low risks for others. In addition, your own apparently good health over the years strongly suggests you have no STD. AS for your wife's symptoms, they are not typical for HIV or any other STD. That said, these factors make your risk for having an STD, or transmitting one to your wife, extremely low -- but not zero. And your wife's symptoms are not very suggestive of HIV or any other STD. All the symptoms you mention are far more often due to thing other than HIV or other STDs.
To your specific questions:
Q1. Yes: if you acquired HIV 8 years ago, probably you would have been quite ill by now.
Q2. No. ARS rash would be body wide; and it only occurs in the first few weeks of catching HIV.
As for being "confused why all this is happening to [your] wife", there is zero reason for speculation about HIV. If she is concerned about her symptoms, she should see a doctor.
Finally, I do think it would be a good idea for you to have blood tests for HIV and syphilis. I recommend it not because I believe there is any significant likelihood you have either of them, but strongly for reassurance. Many of most anxious persons are more reassured by negative testing than by professional opinion, no matter how expert. As implied above, you definitely can expect negative results if you decide to do it.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks for the reply doctor
Yes the 2 flu illnesses were about 8 months after i had returned back from morrroco
The only one that concerned me was when she had the rash 2 days after she started the flu but it was not body wide and was just under both armpits but again she did say it was probably from shaving and i calculated that the last time she gave me unprotected oral was about 2 months ago so it cant have been ARS
Just to add i did not see any chancres or sores on my penis in the last 8 years and no burning sensation
Q1 just to clarify doctor an ars rash would be body wide? And not just under both armpits?
Q2 would me not having no Ars during those first few months after the incidents be a good indicator that i did not catch hiv? Yes i know not everyone gets symptoms but i have read you mention up to 90/95% do have some kind even if its mild
Yes i feel i need to test any reason why the syphillis test too?
Kind regards

Thanks for the follow-up information. But it does not change my evaluation and advice.
Q1. Correct, body wide. No exceptions.
Q2. Among people with new HIV, roughly 50% have ARS symptoms. It is true that more can be defined as having ARS if very mild symptoms are recognized, but it doesn't reach 90-95%, which I'm sure I never said. have symptoms. Whether or not symptoms were present in the couple of months after each of your exposures says nothing at all about the chance you caught HIV. All in all, symptoms are a very poor indicator of whether or not someone has HIV. The blood test is always necessary to know.
Syphilis testing? Because although rare, it is dangerous; and it's the only possibility for an STD, other than HIV, that could be without symptoms from the start but diagnosed by blood test. And the two tests often go together: it is almost always automatic to include syphilis whenever someone is tested for HIV; and the opposite, to test for HIV whenever someone has a syphilis blood test.
