Dear Doctors,
I had a relationship with a women unknown status which include 2 insertive veginal intercourse that was protected with condom and new condom used for each event, and unprotected oral sex with that women (receiving and giving), at the day 28 of this encounter i went to a private lab and had these two tests:
1-Human Imm. Virus 1&2 Ag/Abs Combo (HIV)- Results came back negative
2-Qualitative Detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) RNA by Real Time - PCR- Results came back not detected
Please note that these two test was at the day 28 of this encounter.
My question:
1- is it conclusive?
2-should i repeat the combo test at 6 weeks ? Or use it with PCR at day 28 give me the full confidence
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. The exposures you describe were very low risk. Most women do not have HIV and when they do, transmission from unprotected vaginal intercourse occurs only once in more than 1000 exposures (in other words, 99.9% of the time HIV transmission does not occur). In your case, you used condoms for both exposures making the risk much, much lower. As for oral sex, there has never been a case of HIV proven to have been acquired from receipt of oral sex and the estimated risk of performing oral sex on an untreated, HIV infected woman is less than one infection for every 10,000 exposure.
You have proven you did not get HIV from the exposures you described. The combination of a negative PCR test and a negative 4th generation, combination HIV antigen/antibody test at 28 days is conclusive. No further testing is needed. EWH
